I ran it through the local car wash Friaday at luchtime. It had white oxidized areas on the hood. The car looked really dull. I was mad at myself for neglecting it so bad. It has rained 225 out of the last 28 days here in Florida. Not very motivating to detail the car.

I sold my Mustang Firday so I could take up the whole garage with the 7.

I went to work on it. Orbital buffer Mequires swirl remover. Meguires #22 yellow wax and Meguires Gold Classig Wax. I used the swirl remover as a very mild compound to take off all the oxidation. I went over the entire car twice. Then added a coat of Yellow wax then a coat of Gold.

The car looks totally different. I will post pics soon. Its raining right now as usual.

I have to drive it to work tomarrow and I know it will get rained on. UHHH!! I should be picking up my new CooperS Tuesday so My 7 can stay in the garage and stay clean.

I can not wait for the MCS to arrive. I have ordered the John Cooper Woprks kit too. It adds 35HP to the car. It sounds meaner too. It comes in about 4 weeks then I have to drop the car off to get it installed. The I will go RX-8 hunting. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I should have taken a picture of it before. It looked like crap.

Funny - When I look at it I laugh it looks so stock. It so funny watching the looks poeples faces as I rip away from them.

My "temporary" Cooper until Mine arrives. This is the same color Red whith white roof Mirrors. I had them put a checkerd flag on the roof though not the British. Yeah its an R/C car.

Looks very sexy, but I like the rims where you have the slicks mounted LOL, the Laggera's are nice too though.

i agree

Rob x-7 08-25-2003 08:16 PM

looking good

by the way my cooper came in with the wrong colored roof, so now after waiting since memorial day for the car to arrive, its wrong, cancelled the order and bought a Mazda 6 after the RX-8 gave a dissapointing test drive.

Dramon_Killer 08-25-2003 09:34 PM

How hard is it to use an orbital buffer? I heard if you don't do a good job you can seriously mess the paint up.

Jims5543 08-25-2003 10:08 PM

No that Ryobi is harmless it is not powerfull enough. I would never use the high speed ones they will screw up your car if you don't know how to use them.

Thanks! Yes it is. It suprisses many. At Autocrosses I sometimes will keep the hood closed. You would be amazed at how many "stop by and visit" after the car does a run.

I have a hard time getting people to bite on the street. When I would drive my wifes GT Mustang I would get tons of people stepping up. Its very rare in the FC.

rx7machine 08-25-2003 10:18 PM

Damnit Jim, I want your TII! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png I need one..

Nice Job BTW

Shane.Trammell 08-26-2003 03:24 PM

that looks really nice. i love meguiars

onebadwankel 08-26-2003 04:37 PM

FL weather sucks ass! Everytime I wash the 7 it rains like clockwork. I guess i need a garage. Thats nice for a low speed orbital buff job.

rx7machine 08-26-2003 04:56 PM

Yea, a garage would be nice.

KingFD 08-26-2003 05:28 PM

Thats one sweet ride. Makes me wanna get one.

Dramon_Killer 08-26-2003 06:11 PM

How many rpm is yours? and how do you use it? I got one but its different cuz they dont stock those anymore.

I cant find those products but once i do i'm gonna test them on my car. In the meantime how do you use it.

I just looked on the box real quick and on the unit itself and I did not see RPM's. Its motion is more of a vibrating than a rotating. It definatly does not spin fast I would call it rotating slowly.

Meguiers is good wax for the price.

I used to be a giant fan of Zymol it is just very tedious to apply. It takes a long time. You apply and remove twice then you spray the car down with cool water to "set" the wax. Then you dry it and buff it out. Its all natural and supposidly has oils and such that keep the surface of the car "oiled" for lack of a better word.

I just dont have the time for it anymore.

Dramon_Killer 08-26-2003 10:11 PM

So basically you put the wax on the pad. Wax on wax off? like normal just the pad is bigger? Also can you reuse pads?

Jims5543 08-26-2003 10:29 PM

Yes I usually wax on with the buffer. Then take a small applicator pad and do all the parts I could not get with the buffer. Then I use terry towells to take off the bulk of the dry wax by hand. Then I use the Buffer to polish up a nice shine.

That works well. Although i dont think that i'm going to be using my buffer on a regular basis. At least as a wax applicator. I don't know if you're supposed to or not. I'm a bit confused.
