I have a couple spots where it has worn thin...how can I remove it and re-apply some new stuff...and what should I get...or just leave it off?

the 4 guards right behind the wheels? if those are the ones you are talkin about, they are screwed on the inside of the wheel-well

Do you have pictures of what you're referring to? I was always curious as to what these are. Thanks.

he's talking about the finish on the paint on the lower 1/4 of the door/front fender/rear fender... if you look closely, you'll be able to see the different texture, it's like ~6 inches up from the bottom of either door.

--Deacon-i know what you're talking about, but i don't know what exactly it is, if it's a different finish or something to do with the body/door panels. i'll try and look into it, my bro is having his FD repainted soon so i'll try and find out for ya.

the stuff you are referring to is called rock guard or gravel guard you can but it at your local paint supply (mine came from carquest) it comes in a spraycan.

I don't know how you would remove it other than sanding it off but maybe you can use a wire wheel to remove it since you are gonna put it back on and the surface will be rough anyway so you won't see any marks

you need to sand the whole area, spray the chip guard

rocker panel spray, then paint it over, there are different kinds of the chip guard, some you can use on paint, some dont need to be primed

etc... it depends on which one you buy. I only use 3M.

you can adjust the amount of chip guard when you spray it

until you achieve the desired effect.

you let it flash according to the instructions, then you paint over it.

If you dont plan on removing and reapplying all of it keep the

area small, but you will still need to paint the entire panel.

There is no need to wire wheel it and there is no need to take it

all off, its better to just touch it up, it will look more original in the end.
