I finally replaced my stock rear speakers. The stock ones were torn all the way around the cone. I do not even know how they were producing sound. I replaced them with the Cerwin Vega HED 1683's. This review will be a bit brief because I do not know much about speakers. Also, i am using metal type music as my referrence. Korn, Disturbed that sort of thing.



These were a direct replacement for the stock speakers. No cutting or modding was needed. They came with a 6x8 adapter which slid right onto the back of the speaker. To me, they have a very crisp sound. The highs and mids are extremely clear. The lows added with the highs and the mids and give a warm sound throughout the whole cockpit of the car. I did think the the lows could be a bit more punchy. (I did just install them last night though. I have not played with the bass and treble settings much.)



If you are looking for a good sounding "screw in" stock replacement speaker for the rear, these should be on the list of recommended speakers. I am not sure (at this time) that I would recommend these speakers to someone who listens to rap or music with really deep bass.

call me lazy...how many watts rms and peak? frequency response? I should look these up but you should have it.

What r u using to run them, stock radio? Which one? I'm assuming you have a type 1 stereo(not the bose system) since you have rear qp speakers. Got any pics?

Unforunalty I do not have any pics. It was a rush job to get them replaced so I did not have time to document. They were a perfect fit with the adapters though. I made NO modifications to get them to fit.

I had the originals also. They were barely holding together. They were turning to dust as I touched them. Ewwwwwwww.

you guys are lucky, you have the adapters/speakers to use as reference. I guess if I really wanted to i could pick up the adapters...my problem is the factory type 2(bose)-no rears, i have a plastic cover thats pretty much held in place with what looks like plastic spot welds(that break if you look at them for too long).

What i was really wondering was the size...looked it up and the fsm is a bit off and does not provide the mounting depth. I have 5.25 components in there right now but theyre not plugged in(cannot handle the my amp) and so I figured get the info the speakers twyatt got. Its all just for "reaserch" at this point, I'm just about to take the car off the road for winter anyways(have not renewed ins on it yet and probably wont do it till spring)
