Border Widebody Kit - Special Sale!

Let's just say not all original Japanese products are good quality and not all replicas are bad quality either. Can you honestly say the Border products are good quality? From what I have seen, the finish is not smooth. Compare to C West quality, Border only gets a C.

I sell both original parts and replica parts so my opinion is objective. I make money on either parts anyway. I just hope your customer will be happy with the quality after they get the original Border products.

If people think a $3700 widebody kit is too expensive, I don't know who will buy the original off my hands for just $6500 after I am done with it. I am making a full carbon fiber replica so I don't need the original. I am going to make it in dry carbon so it will be at least twice as strong as the original. So which one has the higher quality now?? Would you pay $6500 for original fiberglass or $6500 for my dry carbon replica?

I cant believe people go to the trouble and so many hours of making a kit and not putting a patent on it. You realize how many hours it takes to make these kits from scratch?

The amount of time to make replicate one by making a mold from a existing one is time consuming enough, but to make one from drawings just to have someone copy it and sell it cheaper, its a shame. Thats why the original kits sell for what they sell for and the replicas are cheaper.

rotaryextreme 12-25-2002 06:44 PM

That's true. It does take a lot more time to make it from scratch. People don't even want to pay $3700 for replica. How many original one do you think they can sell here? At least they made one sale because I bought it. If you think I am taking away their business, you shoulld ask yourself if you are willing to pay $6500-8500 for a set of bodykit. If the answer is no, then you should realize I am not taking away their business at all. I like RE Amemiya. I have bought about $20,000 worth of stuff from them already. I would like to just sell their products without making copies but no one wants to pay the price they are asking for. Besides that, they don't really keep their stuff in stock. Ask Dragon FD3S how long he has waited for his AD Hood9. I ordered mine back in September and it's not done yet. Hopefully it will be done along with the 2002 GT widebody. The availability, the price, and the waiting time just make it extremely hard to sell original parts. I am more than willing to sell you the original parts if you are willing to pay. I do have a few customers that only wants original parts but it's like 1 out of 100. If I just depend on those few customers who only wants original parts, I am sorry to say that I will starve to death. I don't know how much sales JT Imports has but I don't think he can just do this full time to support himself. Want to share with us, Jaosn?

Chuck

vosko 12-25-2002 07:06 PM

remember JT is in japan...... hours are all weird. i'm sure he will reply that he doesn't sell too many ORIGINAL parts. i know i would not pay $2000+ for a front bumper....... lol

JT-Imports 12-26-2002 05:33 AM

To tell the truth, I have only sold one bumper....

I dont feel bad about it either, almost every single FD I have seen in the states, with

exception of a few, have had STOCK bumpers still. We even thought of stopping selling

bumpers, and just stick with, spoilers, lights, accesories, strut tower bars, engine torque

dampners, you know the small stuff..

BUT since I have started may I have probably sold $12,000 worth of RE and double that

from FEED. Could I live off my business? I already do. I dont even touch my normal job

money anymore, I just live with my small bills off what I make importing to the US.

So answer your question, all I do is sell ORIGINAL parts, nothing but. I do get some requests

for fake/replica/copies, but I do send them to Rotary Extreme, since Chucks place is the only

one I know of sells those.

Thats why I will starting more, more, and more GBs. Soon I will have a contact in the US, that

way I will be able to ship in bulk, and prices will be BUTT LOADS cheaper then they are now.

I LEARNED BIG TIME, PRICES ARENT THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS...........

Rob x-7 12-27-2002 11:35 AM

I do fiberglass myself and wouldnt put the time nor money into making a front bumper, I know no one will buy one. Any body parts for that manner.

JT-Imports 12-28-2002 03:20 AM

I talked to RE about the AD9 hoods, and he say they can only put out 15 a month and depending on what time during the month you order, that will depend on when you get your hood. They did run into a small problem, but I was told its fixed, but still the 15 hoods a month rule still applies..

Just good info from your Friendly JT-Imports owner
