At the last autox, everyone I talked to including my instructor recommended getting a 4 or 5 point harness not for safety but just more for control when taking hard turns... now I know why they recommend it.

Anyway, for those who have one, can I just go with a cheap RJS from summit or does it pay to get a Greddy or Sparco?

thanks

I'd like to add to the question, is it necessary to have racing seats to have a harness?

you "can" use a harness without racing seats, however, you must must must mount them so that the mount point is above you, this means you need a roll bar to attach them to, otherwise, not only is it uncomfortable (the harness would fall off your shoulders) but you risk crushing your spine in any kind of accident. Plus, a racing seat will help hold you in place as well, with the side bolsters and all, I am thinking about the $450 Momo adjustable seat I saw the other day, so pretty.

I'd like to get a racing seat, but every seat I see costs sooooo damn much money!

yeah, the cheapest I have seen was like $340 in some ricer magazine, though the $450 Momo Adjustable I saw on www.obbnmotorworks.com is looking really nice, along with either that spiffy 4 point camlock sparco, or the Y belt 3 point, cause it is cheaper.

I dont have racing seats and it works just fine. I mounted them in the rear where my old rear seat was and then just on top of the stock seatbelt in the front. WORKS FINE!

HOWEVER, I would love to have some Recaros, but I have gotten mixed responces on how nice they fit in a 7(the reclinables).

I dont know if the states has the same stock seats as mine, with a little opening behind the head of the person.

Its only 540am now, so if this is a little frucked, dont mind me..

Ok, I did some research on the safety issues and things. It seems the best bet for autox is to get the Schroth Rallye3 harness which attaches to the upper stock seat belt location on the C? pillar behind the drivers seat. Schroth's guide says this harness will work and should attach to this location in any non-convertible FC, however they also state you should not use the harness without a separate headrest so I'm confused on the whole thing. I'm going to call the company I found this at www.soloracer.com and find out the deal.

I'm only going to use the harness at the track. On the street, I'll still use the stock belt.
