krylon fusion paint

scratch resistant and "bonds" to plastic

Sesshoumaru 06-16-2004 03:32 PM

don't do this :(

had to redue b/c of the bondo/plastic hardness

It would also crack along seams when presure was applied.

weld the plastics together with a solder'n iron.

and don't have a straight edge somewhere. Use the iron to make it curvy.

Sesshoumaru 06-16-2004 03:33 PM

another pic

why don't you just use fibreglass? Other then that, it looks great

papasmurf 06-16-2004 04:09 PM

why does seemingly everyone relocate their controls?

Sesshoumaru 06-16-2004 04:11 PM

fiber glass won't fill in the large holes as well.

fiber glass is usually used for structural integrity but by melting the plastics it provided enough so i only needed filler and bondo is alot better at that.

Sesshoumaru 06-16-2004 04:14 PM

the reason i relocated the controls is so i can put my electronic boost guage/controller in a visible spot so it will be easy to see when it warns.

IWINULUZ 06-16-2004 04:14 PM

i need to get instructions on this mod anyone who has a full proof way of doing this mod please post!!!!!!

Sesshoumaru 06-16-2004 06:57 PM

there is no such thing as a full prof mod. Just like a fool proof plan.

take advice from what other ppl have said and just man up and dig in https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR

prepare for alot of down time if you want it really good.

it's not that hard just time consuming.

i'm really broke so doing my interior and letting my engine sit in about 100 pieces sounds like my best plan https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

89 Rag 06-16-2004 07:03 PM

Did you shoot clear on any of the pieces? They look good but it looks like the final cut and buff was left out.

Sesshoumaru 06-16-2004 07:19 PM

no clear coat

just turned out that way.

they say to get a shine you can wipe paint thinner over it (said on can)

it's plenty bling in person.

TURBOX2 06-16-2004 09:53 PM

^^^wanna do mine..lol..can you post a link for the paint etc..my car is down for about three weeks in my garage (waiting on my damn turbo to come in) I still haev too put the black carpet in to complete my tan to black conversion but i would like to paint alll the interior panels as well in the downtime! Any links woudl be great.

fiberglass WONT fill in large holes?

I beg to differ?

Sesshoumaru 06-17-2004 12:13 AM

well i never said it wouldn't.

i said - "as well".

and it was in the context of this operation too so this does not apply to all scenarios

just use normal bondo and some fusion paint. I used 50, 150, 350 on it.

the 350 was a sponge i used on with the wet sanding.

FourtyOunce 06-17-2004 02:46 AM

i hope you test fitted the relocated swtiches/controls/buttons. from the looks of it, you wont be able to fit all of the stuff underneath without banging on the tranny tunnel. how do i know? cuz i did my own. all the best to you ..

Rob x-7 06-17-2004 06:05 AM

I would rather use fiberglass matting with epoxy resin

then use only bondo. It will be alot stronger and will

last longer.

nopistons94 06-17-2004 02:12 PM

ill give you 50 bucks and pay for shipping if you can do mine for me https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Sesshoumaru 06-17-2004 06:45 PM

i haven't decided if i like losing a place to put my arm while driving.

After this weekend i'll see how it goes.

c00lduke 06-17-2004 08:50 PM

Yeah losing my elbow space is what would bother me, always hitting the know would make me afraid that i end up breaking one or more of them.

I was going to say something but then i read this....If you do this mod make sure you'll be happy with the relocation there. With spirited driving you may hit your elbow on the knobs and break/crack something. not to mention some pain in the funny bone LOL https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png I know people need the room for other items but in my opinion the best thing to go there is the JDM arm rest. So much nicer on the elbow.....
