ok well my clutch fluid is leaking all over and noticed how easy it takes the paint off... now if i was planning on gettin a new paint job,,, would it be reasonable to basically rub old paint off with some fluid? i mean it comes off soooo easy and it would be a lot less work instead of sanding correct? doing this before painting would save me a ton of money as well right? just wondering... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

it would be messy as hell then you would have to make surw you clean all that **** off the metal because if not new paint will not adhere..
|
well if it didn't i would just blame it on the paint shop and they fix for free https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Na don't do that. Use a power sander or sandblaster.

if the paint is in sound shape, do not strip it
only strip the paint if it has adhesion problems, otherwise you are doing more harm then good. Not only would you have to make sure all the stripper is off, but you would have to immediatly use a self etching metal primer after you sanded the panel as well because it basically starts rusting right after the paint and primer is off it. |
