Rockford Fosgate 800a4 punch (99 Model https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub... ) Rockford Fosgate 360a2 punch (99 Model https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub... ) That is what I got now I need advise what to do with it all. The 6X9's ??? The 4" dont fit under the dash cause the magnet is to large it hits that big metal in there. The 2 12's ??? Man I need help LOL. |
Put in a cd unit up front with a set of 6in splits and run the 2 subs at the back in a box. Don't waste your time with 6x9, they don't look good on door and there no purpose putting the on the rear self as the subs will out power them in sound.
A nice unit with splits and an amp for the front and 2 subs with an amp at the back will be plenty. |
the cd unit is in already. Any where I can put the 6X9's?
|
Would putting the 2 12's all the way in the back facing the glass sound good? you know one on each side of the car between the strut tower and the spare tire well?
BTW: I have seen some FC's with 6.5 Components in the door do speakers fit there without hitting the glass? I want to put a set but scared of having a situation like my old probe where I could not roll the window all the way down. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png |
get speakers with smaller magnets and get bass
from some subs. Dont be a hack trying to cram speakers in places they dont fit. Not being able to roll windows down from ill fitting speakers in ridiculous Go componets in the doors for mid and highs, and go subs in the hatch/storage bins for the lows. |
With such a small car i'd just drop the subs and go with a good pair of 6x9s in the back with all your speakers powered by amps.
|
Also 4 inche speakers are a waste of time. No matter how much you spend they'll still sound like crap.
|
those 4" firing towards your feet are pretty useless.

Let's see if I can offer some advice as I have been down this road before.
1. Get rid of the 6x9, or see if you can trade them for a 6 1/2" coaxial and put it in the doors. Just be sure your window can still roll all the way down. 2. Forget about the speakers/location under the dash, they're useless. 3. As for the 4", couple of options but the easiest would be to mount them in the rear shock towers for rear fill. Looking again at the 4" you pictured, it looks like a coaxial. See if you can swap it for a 4" separate(doesn't have a tweeter). 4. Easiest would be to build either a ported or sealed box for the 2-12", and play around with its position to see where you get the best sounding bass from (ie: facing upward toward the glass, facing the rear, facing the front). 5. Use the 800a4 for the 6" and 4" 6. Use the 360a2 for the subs. Hope I didn't forget anything. Email me if you need clarrification. Good Luck. |
I was thinking of using the 360 to run the all 4 front speakers to get a 2 ohm load. The 6.5 in the doors & the 4" in the dash. And the 800 for the subs. I think the best way to put the subs would be between the shock towers facing back but if I put them straight up and down the box will be taller than the speaker covers in the tower, and I dont want that. ughh decisions decisions.
I am going to try to trade someone the 6X9's for 6.5's and the idea to put the 4" in the back is not bad at all I never thought of that. |
