I'm not certain but I think i'm getting some clipping.

I have anold JVC HU going to stock speakers I have an 88 mazda rx-7

when I turn the volume up on radio or cd. The sound through the

speakers sounds like its choppy or cutting up. Imagine some one

singing under water and thats kinda what it sounds like.

I know it might be really hard to understand but thats the best i can

do. At first I thought the it was that the speakers were blown

so i replaced the rear stocks with so stock ones from my friends rx-7

and the problem went away for while but then came back.

I looked at the stocks today and it says they can handle 10w

could that be the prob? The speakers don't look blown or anything

and when i tun the volume down (but it has to be really low)the problem goes away.

What could it be?:crazy:

Clipping is a function of the amp. It happens if you are overloading the amp, not the speakers. It is only a temporary protective thing until you turn the volume back down. Even on a head unit that would be pretty close to full blast before it happens. I'm not sure a head unit would even go into clipping https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif



How long has this been happening? Did everything work fine at one time? If everything worked fine for years and then suddenly went bad, you've blown something. It sounds like the amp in the head unit, since you replaced the old speakers and the problem returned.

I just recently installed it

i had to power the HU through the

fuse bix cause my car was broken into

and long story shot i had to rewire it

to the fuses. do you think that its since

the speakers are only 10 w the RMS on the HU

is too much for the speakers?

i think you should check the wiring. if it's stock speaker wire, then it could be worn enough to where it might pick up some interference along it's path. just my 2 cents.

sounds like the vibration while have the volume is up is causing a wire to ground out check your wiring you have to touching somewhere or one grounding out against metal
