We are in the process of making a pop-up headlight like the Knight Sports one that pops up about 2/3 of the stock height. Instead of using those cheap fog lights like the Knight Sports ones which do not improve visibility at all, we are using the Hella 90mm lights just like our sleek headlight kit. HID option will be available as well. The pop-up dual beam headlight kit will come with the following parts:

1. custom headlight brackets to hold the 90mm Hella lights

2. A pair of Hella 90mm low beam projectors and a pair of Hella 90mm high beams

3. fiberglass headlight bezels

4. All the mounting hardware

5. Optional carbon fiber headlight bezel and HID option will be available.

Special pre-order price:

$700 for the basic kit, regular price: $850

$150 for the carbon fiber bezel option, regular price: $200

$500 a pair for the HID option, regular price: $600

The deadline for pre order will be 1-31-04. The release date of the kit will be mid-Feb.

I will post pictures of the prototype in a few days. Thank you.

apexkw 12-22-2003 09:00 AM

about time...i have been wanting hid's in the pop ups for ever...but hated the kinghtsports dual beam kit

if i am reading your post correctly..it would be $700 for the kit plus $500 for the single hid upgrade(low beam) for a total of $1200... is that right? anyways really interested in the pics

treceb 12-22-2003 10:02 AM

Yes, high beam will be halogen if you only want the low beam HID upgrade.

As long as you cut the frame like shown on the instruction, you will be able to bolt back the stock headlight motor assembly and use the pop up lights.

Chuck

FikseRxSeven 12-30-2003 01:22 PM

just a note!!!

if you are using the same configuration for the stock headlights where you the driving beams turn off while the high beams are on, be aware that when you flicker your lights, it is very bad for your HID bulbs and ballasts. so when it is installed, chuck has instructions on his page to set them to go "non sequential" https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png so you can save the life of your expensive lighting system.

thanks for the info chuck...... im considering going back to pop ups

FikseRxSeven 12-30-2003 01:37 PM

chuck, i have your sleek kit, and i have the motor from my stock setup, what else would i need to install this kit? do they use the same hella housings?

(this is just brainstorming, nothing to be taken seriously yet ... hehe)

PoMan Ferrari 01-01-2004 10:43 AM

I'm interested as well. Hated the stock headlight but don't like the sleek light look either.

In order to get a lower height, I assume you're making a shorter actuator arm as part of the kit?

You will reuse the Hella lights. So pretty much you will be buying the kit with everything but the Hella lights.

Nope, I don't touch the arm itself. I relocate the mounting point so the light pops up lower. The new mounting point will be on the bracket that holds the Hella lights.

rotaryextreme 02-10-2004 06:49 AM

Sorry guys, I haven't got time to finish the prototype yet. The special price will be good until one month after I post the prototype photos. Nah, I am not lagging to jack up the price. I am lagging because I have to fulfill all the current orders first. Sorry about it. They will be made. Just need a little more time.
