Hey bascially I have replave my R-1 wint with the 99 wing but as most of u know 2 hole leave expose, anyway I deceide to putty to cover up the hole and it look good. I got the stock paint in a spray can special made for me, I was thinking of spray painting the putty spot but I need to tape up the hatch where I do not want to over-spray, if I used good masking tape to seal off the other section will it leave a tape mark? Or what is better way to do it? beside auto body which they will repaint the entire hatch,I can't afford that right now,Thanks. khris

use regular masking tape and lay down a layer of paper around what you don't want to get sprayed be sure to prime it before you put the top coat on.
|
ok but what would happen after I removed the tape? Will there be the edge of the tape makring left because it got spray over?
|
you will still have marks. after it is dry, wait a day. you have to wetsand the whole area with VERY fine sandpaper. then buff the whole thing out. Be carefull, you can do alot of damage!

that's what I was looking for thanks alot Jay, Khris.

no prob. add some soap to the water to reduce friction
|
uh....... not the paint in the can **** won't work not very well anyway...
don't mask off any of the hatch... only where you don't want overspray, fold the tape in half you won't get a hard edge that way, if you do mask any of the hatch off... yeah basically spray and hope for the best wetsand out with like 1500 that's safe you souldn't be able to mess the rest of the clear up to fast with that... expect to pay more when it comes time for paint though cause everything you do with a can will have to be stripped off |
if I was in your postition I would put some red vinyl tape
over the holes, or put some screws/bolts with a rubber washer to keep the water out. It would still look better then rattle canning the hatch of a FD. curious as to what you paid for that can of spray paint? |

Have you even checked into what a body shop would charge?
The hatch is so tiny, I cant see it being more then $200 with filling the holes. |
