I love the look of the diffuser on the back of the 2002 RE Amemiya FD with the widebody kit. But I checked out different diffusers from RE Amemiya and now I'm confused over this "Bowtech Generator" is that just a fancy name for a diffuser or is it something that attaches to an already existing diffuser that you have to already have?

i believe its the little dealies on the side.

those two flaps in the middle of the diffuser, those are the bowtech dealies. They bolt on to the normal diffuser IIRC.

ok now someone with a aerospace engineering (or expertice in fluid dynamics) tell us what aerodynamic benifit these little things have. either preventing or creating vortcies?

the back of that car is ugly, pontiac aztec ugly

well im no expert but i have some background in that stuff https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png

Ok....when u try to create a venturi effect underneath a car to provide downforce WITHOUT adding drag, you have to make the airflow as seamless and smooth as possible. With that large middle channel in the diffuser, it sweeps away air and creates downforce, but there is still a lot of turbulence. Those little fins help straighten out the air and lessen the drag. Now on the sides of the diffuser are the little rounded up edges that are also part of that bowtech generator or w/e. Those help draw air up and away from the OUTSIDE of the fender, keeping it from going back underneath the car and creating more turbulence.....got it? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Since it wont let me edit it...heres part 2:

EDIT: now the problem with that setup is efficiency. Sure it will provide SOME downforce, but not when compared to a perfect venturi setup. Look at the picture of the Enzo. The venturi tunnels run the LENGTH OF THE CAR and the ENTIRE underbody is smooth. This allows for much much less turbulence, not to mention the ability to channel a lot more air effectively than a 3ft addition to the very rear of the car (not to mention all the turbulence caused by the undercarriage and various car parts jutting out https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR ) Also, in the front of those tunnels (hidden from view) are airfoils that adjust their pitch and how far they drop into the tunnels depending on speed to increase efficiency and downforce even further.

Now what i want to see happen, is someone create a flat underbodied FD with Venturi tunnels the length of the car. Also if you look at a Ferrari 360 Stradale or a F2003, they have ports on the top of the car bout halfway back channeling air out from the venturi tunnels UPWARD out the top of the body, and on the Porsche GT2 at the very front to provide downforce over the ENTIRE length of the car, keeping it balanced (if you generate 500lbs of force @ 160mph on the rear wheels from a diffuser and rear wing but only 170lbs on the front from an R1 lip, say hello to understeer and floating!)

So all in all it would be very interesting to see someone study this post along with a few other threads about this topic (and someone obviously well versed in fluid dynamics and aerodynamics) to design us a properly engineered downforce mod for the FD, complete with flat underbody panels, venturi tunnels, a rear diffuser, a front diffuser (possibly routing that air into a HMIC and H-mounted radiator? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR )

*phew* im done.....SOMEBODY MAKE ONE! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

I was acutaly thinking about making panels that would bolt to the under side of my FC with little runners (.5-1" high) out of fiberglass. If I wasnt a poor highschool soon to be college student I would be all over it like a fat kid on a doughnut. Wait until im out of college!!!!!! yes wait then buy my products and make me a millionaire!!!!!!!!!MUAHAHAHAHAa ok srry, but seriously....

With a flat underbody and runners you would be minimizing drag, but not increasing downforce. Now with that, you could just resolve to a wing on the back for downforce, but my idea is to have a CLEAN FD with no visible downforce aids other than a factory front lip w/ splitter, and maybe a 99spec wing....then to have downforce like crazy on the underside, makes for quite a track sleeper. Other problems you'd encounter is ground clearance. All of the cars with full length venturi runners had their components placed in areas where these diffusers weren't, lol.

(im also a broke high-schooler...but at least i know a thing or two https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR )
