When I resprayed under the hood I taped the plastic with ductape to the car. Big no-no. It got sticky and stuck to the paint. I took a couple of pieces of with my finger nail and boy it took a while. I decided to try an old worn dorn soft scrub thiny, like a scotchbrite pad. Well that fucked the paint.

Is there compound that I can try and rub into the bumper and headlight? If not I will just have the autobody shop respray both, there are a couple door dings and a dent that need to be fixed anyhow...

Yeah, there is..Mothers makes it...I cant think of what its called right now(and im fixin to leave work, else I'd look for it), but it will just buff it out like a wax...Leaves it nice and shiny like new too...Next time(Hopefully there wont be a next time, lol) you should try GooGone, or Orange Clean...that worked for me when I did the same thing...

if you try some over the counter stuff and it doesnt

work then when the car is running take it to a detail shop

or a body shop to have them buff it out for you

by the time you buy what I would suggest you might as well

have someone do it for you cheaper

FD3S DRIFT 04-08-2004 09:17 PM

i would go with masking tape next time its not very sticky

damn, that sucks.... well as long as you can't see the blemishes from 10 ft. away, it's cool (the excuse i tell my brother for nicks and other stuff that happen to the paint)

Sure looks nice complete ASS

ColinRX7 04-11-2004 11:26 PM

I did that same thing when I painted the engine bay.. Left sticky duct tape crap all over the roof area.

But I had anticipated that, the whole car will be repainted in about a month, month and a half (after the motor is reinstalled, driving to the big paint booth).
