Well it was easy for me casue I had the **** all out but It was clean even before.

Ok this is what you do. Start at one corner. Take all the **** off the firewall that you can. LIke the stuff all held on by 10mm studs.

Wipe it all off with alcohol.and a rag (basically your just cleaning off any oil and dust. then get everything you can reach on the firewall.

The black rubber i use " Mothers" back to black. just wipe it on. The wires I get new black duct tape and rewrap them.

On the metal you can use #0000 steel wool and some mothers or semichrome polish. Whichever you prefer. I think semichrome is better but mothers will do the job too.

Basically follow that procedure all the way around the bay. It's time consuming but you only need to do it good once. After that it's just upkeep.

Other than that if paint is flaking or chipping you can repaint the piece with spray paint. Same applies to any rust you mave have on pipes. clean them up prime them and paint them.

Thats really about it. It's not any big secret just good old elbow grease. Oh and alot of patience and beer https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR

Sounds good. Rubbing alcohol for fire wall?

No denatured alcohol. It works great for a dgreaser and leaves no residue. Any degreaser that youlike would work fine.

I just like that way that the alcohol evaporates.

Does your engine bay look like crap?

Check out these before and after photos.

BEFORE:

Notice the dirtyness? (yeah, I know it's an integra. Ignore that https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR )

AFTER:

Yeah, that's the same car! Amazing, eh?

Here’s how it works:

Start preferably in the morning when you engine is very very cold – you want to minimize evaporation.

Open up your engine compartment, and spray Gunk Engine Cleaner everywhere you possibly can. Try shooting it from different angles, standing in different places around the engine compartment.

Let that sit for 15-20 min.

Next, take a garden hose and gently rinse everything off (preferably with a sprinkler attachment) you do not want to use pressure here!

To lock-in the shinyness, use Armorall foaming tire cleaner.

Close the hood, drive the car or run the engine for 30 min or so to evaporate all the water, and when you open the hood, you will not believe your eyes!!!

(stolen from http://www.nsxhelp.com/amnsxlit/Enginetric...EngineTrick.htm )... go there or something ! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I always just use a couple of spraycans of engine degreaser, go all over the engine bay from every angle, then leave it for about 15 minutes to soak in before getting the garden hose onto it. Then I spray the electrical areas with some WD spray before starting it up.

I just took a look at the engine bay today before I washed her and noticed it was nearly as dirty as I had thought it was before.. but it still needs it.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif
