Anyone know where to get this done?

Similar to what some guys do to car badges, getting them fake chromed or gold color.

I have some interior trim and buttons that i want to look like chrome. but its obviously plastic so I imagine there is a way to dip in a coating that resembles chrome.

there is a product that some custom bike shos are getting into. it allows you to spray on the chrome finish. essentially you can 'chrome' anything that can take paint. A lotta shops don't have it since the system is $10,000.

I'd try a bike shop somewhere... I got dead ended when I was trying to get the gauge bezels re-chromed... I just painted them to match my gauges....

crap on the cars, maybe they can do something for you in chrome



otherwise try a plating shop, do you have any chrome plating shops near your house? I have one I deal with here that does great work, never asked

them about doing plastic parts though. Maybe also throw a call to a

local powdercoater, he may not do it but may know of a place to do it

kind of an Add on to FD3BOOST's question.. can cracked plastic, be repaired, then re-chromed..

ohh, good one. I would assume that most anything can be repaired, there are plastic welders availble that might allow you to absorb the crack, then you'll have to resurface the part, then I'd assume it could be chromed. the resurfacing better be perfect, though.

When I went to high school, my senior math teacher's family owned a shop that chromed stuff, and one of the things they could chrome was plastic. He had a TI-83 calculator, and the cover for it was all chromed. It looked pretty cool. I should talk to him and see what he is up to.
