What's up people... i'm finally going to change my radio in my 3rd gen to an aftermarket sony one. I've never taken it out before... I hear from a friend that also has an FD that I have to buy a Two male end wire to go to the Antenna. Is this true? I'm getting the radio and the adapter harness. What else do I really need. THanks....

No, they should give you everything. You might need two U-keys, looks like a U and I don't know what it's called, to help take out the radio from the dash. otherwise, all I did was dice and splice and electrical tape. But you can do it more eleganlty with the harness, (like you are doing) or wire tap-ins which are about 1.89 each so don't go crazy with them. Save the money for mods! aahha

All the decks I've put in before, I never usually use those metal brackets you get with them with the special shaped keys to get the deck in and out quickly, as that also helps theives with the job, I usually pull the whole console out and usually there wholes on either side, usethem to bolt it straight to the sides of the deck for a secure mount, last time someone broke into my car they ended up hurtig themselves trying to take it (they left a nice little splatter of blood on the shifter and deck heheh, Serves the FUCKERS right! And with the wires I suggest you use a harness, you don't wanna be having ya car won't start when your going out on the weekend coz your wirings shorting out and it's flattening your battery...

There's T/N screw holes on each side of your stereo. I make a bracket for the 1st gen and developing one for the 2nd gen that uses these to bolt the stereo in from the sides, but the 3rd gen is a 1 DIN opening, I believe.

The 3rd Gen is a double DIN opening, either with a tape player and a closing pocket, or with a tape and CD player (for the Bose models).

as an installer for 7 years at circuit city, i would say DONT DO THIS!!!! A theif will pry the **** outta your dash and **** up more thatn you can imagine. also why take the whole dash apart for a 3 sec radio removal?? makes no sense to me, but hey what ever. yes you need the antenna adapters and use a harness. nothing sucks worse that haveing to try and figure out what the hell your doing when you could have bought a harness and had your radio installed in under 10 minutes. take my advise, if you have never installed a radio use the peoper installation supplies. or pay the pros to do the install for you. later sully

just use the factory brakets... take your drill...



meausre the where you should drill holes in the factory brakets... measure again...



measure one more time... drill the factory braket... get screws and screw the new unit to the holes u drilled out...



no my next problem is... **** i just bought 1fastT2's gauge/stereo holder... but hte opening is bigger then one din size.



18 cm x 5.5 cm is the dimension... i think i'm going to find two aluminum plates... measure and drill accordingto above to mimic a braket... and then JB weld this to the sides of the 1fastt2 gauge holder thingy
