mazdadrifter 01-07-2004 08:18 PM

i'm going to get a portable unit and replace my head unit with that in my turbo. I've been thinking about it since haveing direct tv music channels (which fukin own)

Plus I'll be able to take it into work and listen.

I wonder if they are going to raise the prices now that it kicks more ass.

ps I've seen tests where xm got a lot better score for music quality that cirrus.

phinsup 01-07-2004 08:29 PM

I have never listened to Sirius, but the XM quality is unbeatable.

spaceman Spiff 01-07-2004 08:42 PM

The xm radio is transmitted from satelites to fm towers then it transmitts to your car. sso unless you are in range of the signal of an fm tower then you get no signal. with sirius it transmitts straight from the satalite to your sirius antenna. my sirius reciver is great. i had xm for about a week on my pioneer head unit then had to swith to sirius because it sounded just like the radio. now with my kenwood head unit i got a free reciver (175 value) and i had to buy the antenna for 50 bucks then subscribe. it works great expt in tunnels or if you sit under an overpass for mor than about 10 seconds.

phinsup 01-07-2004 08:45 PM

I have never even had it go out on me in tunnels and what not, but I dunno maybe their are blind spots in other states.
