Anyone ever painted a wood workbench? I would like to paint the one in the boat with something tough and nonslip, its a wood top.

gelcoat

no i want something rubbery if i can get it, like rhinolining type stuff, but i don't think that stuff sticks to wood does it?
|
It does. The real rhino lining needs to be sprayed, but theres brushable versions available. Adhering to wood should be no problem at all.

I moved the one that came with my first house. The engineer who built it did a pretty nice job. Thing is about 50 years old. It was a funny green color and my wife made me paint it. I used what I had, which was interior latex house paint. Naturally, it's wearing off in the "high traffic" areas, but it looked good for a few years. I guess it's due for another coat.
I think anything will stick to wood. |

[attachment=45454:IMG_0278.JPG] I dont think we have that stuff here. I don't mind spraying mazdaspeed, the only thing is I don't think I can buy the actual rhino lining, I gotta find out if there is someone who sells a decent bedliner I guess. |
if the bench is portable take it to a place that does it, you can also try durabak, its a rubberized antislip coating for boats.
or add antiskid particles to the gelcoat |

or add antiskid particles to the gelcoat No it's not portable it's built in. The only thing with the gelcoat and anti skid is it won't really be rubbery. I have to try find some durabak |
you can get rubbery by putting one of those mats like they put in tool boxes or on shelfs
