I recently put WinXP Pro on my computer. It was a disk a friend had from his new Dell. I got it installed fine but the product key has already been used twice so I can't activate my version. It works but I only have a few days left until it dumps XP. What exactly happens when you don't activate XP? And what I'm thinking of doing is reinstalling Win 98 untill I can buy Win XP Home. How would I do this?

Thanks in advance guys!

Download the Blue List Key Generator using Kazaa or something like that. I'd search for "XP Key" and see if it comes up with anything.

Direction for using: Change OS type to XP Corp, mode to Find Key, and searches and max keys to 100. Also, check "save Found keys in log file" to simplify this process. This should take awhile, so let it do some searching.

To fully take advantage of this, do a fresh install of XP Pro and that should make everything work flawlessly.

Get a crack for it... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

keep changing the date back (every day) on your computer to "the day after you installed XP".. if you do this every day from here on out, you'll might be fine..

Or keep restoring your computer back to a previous date, and then changing the dates, that way XP may not catch it...

i don't know what will happen if you don't though.. hope that helps

definitely try and get your hands on a corporate copy with a serial number.

no need to worry about any of that crap

JeffTII 11-12-2003 11:12 AM

So what happens when you don't activate WinXP?

JeffTII 11-12-2003 11:31 AM

Do a search for 'em(Win XP cracks or serial numbers). Theyre everywhere.

(FYI- Cracks are not legal, but neither is borrowing your friends disc https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR )

vancouverrx7 11-12-2003 11:52 AM

what happens:

you will not be allowed to continue to the desktop without registering your version of windows. In other words, all you'll see is the user screen. When you select your user name, it'll jump right into the "register windows" dialog. There's no way around it.

What to do:

1.)

You can follow the directions they give you on how to register your version of windows via the phone. Have your friend's valid serial number handy. They will go through a bunch of procedures like ask for some series of numbers that show up on the screen and then ask for the winxp key. They will also ask why you have to re-register your version of windows. when they ask you what your reason is for registering this product again, say you had a virus and had reinstalled it a couple times. Or if you can find a better excuse, be my guest. If everything goes well, in the end, they'll give you a validation code via the phone that'll register it.

2.)

You can get that crack everyone's talking about but why bother if you have a valid WINXP KEY?

You know the blue screen with the Windows XP logo, it appears just prior to the logon selection screen - You'll be locked in that, it will never go past that screen. Same thing happens if you change more than 3 hardware devices since activation. (I changed my HDD, Vid card, DVD player, sound card, added RAM.. XP locked me out of my comp.)

wow, i didn't know that. I should give it a shot...

cymfc3s 11-12-2003 12:01 PM

If you have a valid key, and it wont let you register online, just call them. Ive called the number at least 6 times. Just tell them youve had to re-install, blah blah blah. They give you an activation code and your done.

JeffTII 11-12-2003 12:51 PM

Well, the problem is that they key has been used to register one version on one comp. and activate on another so I get the message I need to purchase additional liscences so I can activate/register on my comp.

The key's are not CD specific, just follow my previous post.

This isn't that helpful, but Microsoft sucks. heh.

My first copy of XP was cracked and the only downside to that is you can't use windows update, it says yer CD key is invalid, and won't let you continue, If i remember correctly, i found a way around that but i don't remember how...i eventually just went to Rent-A-Center and made them give me my restore CD's (but told them i had a different comp that came with XP Home, mine originally came with 98SE...) and had a legal copy and never worried about it again....

So here's my issue. I got some other keys but none work. I went to several different places and found several different keys. So when I go to activate windows it says incorrect key. Do I need to Reinstall windows xp with a key I found or am I just not doing something right? Thanks again for all the help.

CrashFactory 11-12-2003 05:50 PM

Since you used the key that came with the CD, you will most likely have to wipe and restart, using the cracked key this time...read my post above too, if that sounds like a bad idea (with all of the security leaks that XP seems to have), then do what they said and call em up and BS em...the end https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

It's all good. Got it done. Gave a call to MS and they got me going. I love MS!!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

CrashFactory 11-12-2003 06:15 PM

I wouldn't say 'Love', but they make my computer do sumthing besides, well, just sit there, adn you can't get OS X on a non-Apple comp, and I am too lazy to learn linux, and...yeah, you get the point.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

My advice would allow you to use Windows Update. But I see you called M$. Oh well.

Fd3BOOST 11-12-2003 08:58 PM

If you still need serials pm me I have a list of XP cracks about two pages long.

People who pay for software are retarded.

Sometimes you have to. I do, for the really good stuff that is.

Yeah this "paying for software" argument could get intense, but I'll just leave you with this: if no one buys software, who will make it?

JeffTII 11-13-2003 08:24 AM

Well, yesterday I d-loaded a "fix" so I could get updates. I installed my first set last night. Worked like a charm. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
