I was given a computer for my son to use. The owner forgot the Windows 2000 ADMIN password. How do I get around that to set a new password
|
The easiest thing to do is reformat, if their's nothing important on there and if you have the OEM setup CDs.
I'll research it...I've done it before but I don't remember how... |

l0pth crack will work but I don't trust em
The only reputable compnay I know of is winternals. Otherwise you're pretty stuck save for some cracking software. Somtimes installing into a new directory will allow you access to the files depending on time of day, my mood and where Bill Gates is located |
Just reformat, dont want your son to find any ehem, "stashes" left on the computer by the previous owner.

I had win 200o on a comp one time. Biggest pain in thw ass! I dont think you can reformat without the admin password either. The OEM cd's dont help either cause once again you need the password. I just bought a new hardrive https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

Theres a bazillion different ways to reformat and i can think of NONE that require the admin pword of the OS installed on the harddrive your formatting. From what ive seen OEM cds dont need the password either.... |

You must not be very computer smart.

I just used the Dell CDs to get it back to the way it was before. It ain't no thang. |

He said you had to have the PW. |
i have heard of a linux floppy on boot that will allow you to change the admin pass. my school was hacked that way a while back.

Use this: http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/rawrite2.zip
It works with NT, 2K and XP. I use it all the time when client forgets their admin passwords. I makes a Linux boot disk and allows direct access into the SAM databases. |
