Catback?! 03-23-2003 03:21 PM

I'm a real beleiver in performance over style, but if stly wasn't important to me i would not have brought a RX7 to begin with.

My question is this: at what point can i stop worrying about performance mods and move on to the body? all i ask for is the 99 spec and rear lights u know?

Mind you i got an automatic, so nothing too exetreme is under the hood, just the usual: rebuilt engine, intercooler, gauges, AST, air filter, vacuum hoses, pop and blow valves, ECU (<-thanks Ito!), exhaust, Z-rated tires and of course downpipe.

Please post if there is something i'm missing that preventing me from getting the "ultimate" auto FD.

hey i saw your car at the shop, when it finally ran! you have a reman tranny too! car looks good, the 99 conversion is very nice. i'd say do body upgrades when you have nothing else to do and have the money to spare. honestly i love the way the stock car looks!

If the car is healthy, and tuned, and you are satisfied w/ its performance, then I'd say it's up to you. But if you are looking for more power, then hold off on the bumper..you might coincide a new bumper with a fmic for example. The tails you can do anytime but the genuine parts are expen$ive unless you do the home made version (there's some threads on that). enjoy it! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I say do the cosmetics last.. unless you don't plan on doing anything else to the engine.. then go ahead with the body.

im holding off with the body mods, eventhough i have a cracked front bumper and stone chips/ fading on the outside... get a stall!!!

NathansRex 03-23-2003 10:22 PM

im all about performance too. but remember you are representing a little of all of us when you drive an rx7 that doesnt look half as well as it handles. as for me i cringe to see a fellow '7 owner driving a trashed '7!

as for me im doing mine all at the same time started w/ catback, went to efini body kit, dp, pfc, ic, intake, carbon fiberhood, rad., 5zigen 5zr wheels and falken tires tomorrow....

just my opinion

wELL YOU HIT WHAT I HAVE DONE TONS OF RESEARCH ON AND HVE SPENT MY MONEY ON IN THE PAST 3 MONTHS I AM BUILDING AN AUTO FD......."oops" I have spent $800 on a custom 8" stall converter,$ 500 on the high end rebuild parts to hold the hp,$ 500 to have it rbuilt...... You can get up to 3000 to 3200 stall with your stock converter when you send it off for me not good enough for the t78..... But if you have stock twins that would be a good stall.........Or some of the smaller turbos.................The automatic tranny will hold easy 500rwhp with the mods i have done to it....... So alls i can say if that is ok prices for you to do to hold the hp than go for it ill give you numbers to call to make it so but if not ok do the manual swap, but i think ill be a little better off cuz the auto wont have the shock to it like a 5 speed so should live alot easier life.... Think about it come outta the hole at full boost and never lose boost between shifts..........
