i have been at my job for like 3 months and am getting paid 7bucks and hour and i want a raise. i do mechanic stuff now insted of just being on the wash pad. should i ask for one?

I really depends on what they told you when you started. If they said you would start out on the wash pad to gain experiance and then start on mechanic stuff after a few months then I dont think now would be the time. But if they moved you up because someone else left then you have every right to ask for a raise.



My opinion though ( I have never asked for a raise BTW) is 3 months is too soon. Jobs are hard to come by and their will always be someone that is willing to do what you do for the same price. three months? No way dude, are you full time? If not more hours might not be out of the question, but a raise already.....iffy.

well, as a supervisor, i fire people that want a raise and dont have **** to show for it. your best way to go into a situation like that is to be able to explain why you think that you deserve one. do not, and i repeat, do not every try to bully or threaten for one, such as demanding one and or threatening to walk out.......



persent yourself as an attribute to the place of emplyment and that you are not a waste of time and things that you offer .....how you are growoing and how you expect to get better and offer more as you grow as a person and an employee.....



your best bet is to show that you are an asset, and not a waste of payroll expenses....never finger neone else out, just let them know that you are on board, but can not work for peanuts now that you have proved yourself.....however, there are some places that have set guidelines for raises, as we do, and it just does not falll into the "time-frame" that teh company has, therefore no matter what, you may not get one....

should i just ask my boss if there is a potential for a raise at my position?



i already asked for more hours but they cannot schedule me more than 30 hrs.



but my boss is my dads friend if that helps?



he did already mentions that he thinks i will be asking for a raise.



they did tell me that i would be on the washbay the whole time, the business is just growing now (no-one to replace).



oh, i check out the equipment to see if it is ok to go back out to rent and if i miss something that is my ass, so wouldnt more liability be inherent with a higher wage?

if he expects u to ask him dont. Wait another month, maybe two. Then you'll catch him by suprise. Or maybe he expects u to because he thinks u deserve it, and if u let him approach you, it may be a greater amount cuz he will respect you more.

yeah i agree, it has been like 3 weeks since he did so ill wait until he approaches me.

a question on the same subject, once you asked for a raise and they said "just make sure to come in with neat and ironed clothing at all times and we will give you a raise" and you do this for 3 months, should I ask again if I will get my raise?



Btw, have been working for the employer for over a year now and have proven that I am capable of working alot more posisions than what I was hired for. (I was hired for front desk at the hotel and am capable of doing Maintenance, reprograming of the lock system, which the owner/ Manager of the hotel can't even do, Housekeeping, certified pool maintenance, etc.)
