Well I guess I'll post a little more Kindle 2 review here.
It's a pretty amazing screen, just like looking at a book page, the picture stays on teh screen when the device is off. Essentially you are buying the screen, the cost of the kindle 2 works out to be just about the cost of the screen itself. I have the smaller one and I wouldn't want the bigger one. This is perfect size, easy to take anywhere you want, the beauty of course that i can carry a whole library full of books in the palm of my hands, the convenience shines in this instance of course much like an ipod carrying thousands of songs in your pocket. To appeal to the cheapskate it's quite simple. NY Times best sellers are $9.99 man of the classics are next to nothing, I bought Moby Dick for $2.10 at the rate I read books this makes it a great value.
It does not fatigue your eyes because it is not back lit, just like a book you need a light, this may seem odd, but your LCD and LED devices like the one you are using to read this post will fatigue your eyes, the kindle will not do this. As mentioned before you can bookmark, underline, select and save at any point in the book. If you have multiple books going you can switch between them and always be returned to the last page you were on.
The magazines and newspaper section is somewhat limited at this point. I honestly don't read a lot of magazines, I cannot stand the ads, oh wait here's the good news on kindle magazines NO ADS lol , of course many magazines are reduced to 15 pages once the ads are removed, seriously there's maybe 5 articles in any magazine, just ads. The mag subscriptions are dirt cheap $1.49 to $3.99 per month depending on the Rag.
Another neat feature is you can have 4 kindle devices on your account, all sharing the same book purchases, this means if you have one and the wife has one you can read the same books, no need to buy the same book for each device.
Simply put this device is for reading, nothing else, it's a not a web browsing gadget, email gadget, word processor of facebook machine, it's for reading and it does it well, very well.
