Must be nice. And I wonder how people get in such bad credit debt.

My advice would be to buy used. I bought a new bike once and will never do so again. Of course this only works if you don't want the latest and greatest.

I just picked up an '88 GSX-R750 for $500. Of course it needs a little work, but it's 95% all there. I will be riding it in a week or so. Oil cooler the size of a radiator, I love it. Hmm, oil cooling dependant. Does this remind you of another engine?

If this will be your first bike then when you drop it you won't feel so bad. Not to mention it'll not cost you nearly as much to put back together.

Cheers

my advice is stop talking stupid about using a bike in the winter

you have no clue- the leaves and salt left on the roads even after the snow melts making riding a bike hazordous, never mind the COLD affecting both you the rider and the tires on the bike , throw some black ice and frost in the picture and maybe they you will get a clue.

around here most people get 6 month bike insurance for a reason- you stop riding in Ocotober or so and dont bother insuring or riding it until the street sweepers do thier thing at the end of April

Bikes are a fast and inexpensive way to kill yourself quicker.

nopistons94 09-21-2005 08:55 PM

I woudln't ride when the temps are below freezing the night before, but nor would I drive the RX7 either. I'd keep the bike on insurnace all year because its so fuggin cheap where as the FD is 2k a year so thats why I do 6 month insurance on that

freezing doesent have much to do with it. do you know how much crap is on the roads during the winter? hitting salt is not fun on a sportbike.

sportbike tires NEED to be warm to stick. In the summer they will cool down literally if you sit at a stoplight. No traction = you in a tree. Think about how fast they will cool when its 40 deg.

Rob x-7 09-21-2005 09:01 PM

you only read temps and seemed to miss the rest of the post, the roads here get SANDED AND SALTED AND DONT GET CLEANED UNTIL THE SPRING

if you have a truck for the snow, drive it all winter and park the car

rfreeman27 09-21-2005 09:03 PM

but i will say, bike prices are WAY lower in the winter
