Macs are useful for non-nerds and nerds alike whilst PC's are for people who hate themselves too much to treat themselves to something that doesnt self-destruct.

Shoot. I've always been relatively satisfied with the trailing edge of technology. PC's are cheap as hell, and if you build your own and use a reasonable amount of good sense, you shouldn't have any trouble.

Of course, the last system I built roasted a motherboard in two months, but now I have a spare. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

It's people who need to have the latest and greatest, pay top dollar, and don't have a clue that have bad experiences with PC's.

I've got nothing against Apple, but they're not for cheap people.

Actually when compared hardware to hardware I hardly paid anything extra for my mac, then add in the usable and included software and it's about the same. Not to mention the last hp we bought didn't make it a year without needing it's first repair.

I'm poor and I have a mac https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

My first computer experience was an original Machintosh when they first came out. My dad bought one. I remember playing stick figure games on it haha.

Since I do a lot of wiring diagram design work with Visio, as well as using Solidworks, I have to have a PC still. Don't get me wrong though. I also do web design and am an intensive Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash user. So My lineup consists of:

Quad core Intel PC running XP, and a 28" HDMI monitor (gotta love tigerdirect!)

iMac 24" Core 2 Duo, 4gb ram (running the same copy of XP through VMware)

2.8ghz Mac Pro, 16gb ram (for real work...thanks to the Hard Rock Casino for the big win on slots that allowed me to buy it:D)

PowerMac G5 DP 2.5ghz, 8gb ram (previously used for the real work, now just chills as a backup)

23" cinema display

Panasonic Toughbook (this is a dream for people who need to access data acquisition trackside, it's damn near waterproof and shock proof off the hood of a car, I know!)

20" iMac G4 (wifey's computer...myspace proof)

With those in mind, I love the Mac's more than the PC's hands down. Phin is right, and I can benchmark XP better on both of my Intel Macs, as well as any of the Adobe software. Games suck on Mac, but that's what my PS3 and 360 are for https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

The best part of it all...I own 1000 original stock certificates of Microsoft stock thanks to my old man. My dad worked for General Dynamics when Gates was trying to get his software into the military. I think at the time my dad was working on the cruise missile, or possibly the guidance system for the F16 (hard to remember, that was a long time ago)

Bottom line...I wouldn't run Vista if you paid me.
