he also did it to be different....

Plus the motor is still pretty stock....

So give him some credit!

It may not be a rotary but it is different and a pretty sweet project.

But the times arent bad. He has some tuning left to do.

But he also did it for other reasons...

2.3 parts are cheaper than Rotary....

There are stroker kits available to stroke them up to 3.0 litre's.

They have aluminum heads out for the engine also.....

So give him some credit for taking on a project and doing pretty well with it.

I know its not a Rotary. But to me it isnt an SVO either.

Actually if you know what your doing with a rotary you can build one pretty damn cheap. I dont know how much the head is for that engine but I imagine if its like other alum heads its not cheap.....you can rebuild a rotary probably quite a bit cheaper than just the head(s) for that motor.

I know you guys see prices at some shops like Pettit Racing, KD, PFS for rebuilds and they are like $3500 with a core!!!! If you rebuild it yourself it can be anywhere from $500 - $1200 depending on if it need housings or not.

I would imagine this guy can build motors, if he would take the time to learn/understand the rotary he would realize its not hard to rebuild compared to a piston engine and its cheap to rebuild.

Yeah, a plain rebuild is very simple. The hardest part is cleaning everything and making sure everything is ok to use.

Twin89Stangs 07-03-2002 09:08 PM

I am sure he could probably do a Rotary....

but he is a Ford fan...

true the head for that motor is expensive...

But you should see how poorly the stock head flows for that motor.. IT DOESNT! I have more or less the same head on my 2.3. There is very lil difference and lets just say porting and polishing and big vavles dont really do **** for it!

These are pretty respectable times for such a stock motor.

Plus parts are pretty readly available for this motor.

I know it is sacrilege to you guys. It kind of is to me. Because he used an SVO motor which he should of left in an SVO. But it is a cool project and a fast project and something he took on and accomplished.

Your wasting your breath, you would think a RX-7 was as collectable as a Duesenburg ( -spelling? ) the way some people look at them when you put another engine in them, but if you put a rotory in something else- they love it.

What is that a rebuilt hot wheels car??

I have nothing against the project...I just think the sticker is a little rednecky.
