load the weedwacker up in the car and drive to NC to my shop... bring lots of beer and i think i can find someone that can possibly figure it out.....

ethanol dude, i see it every day in gas boats. rots lines, fuel pumps you name it. options are to throw some stabil in there and hope that does the trick or go to a marina and get ethanol free fuel, one 5 gallon pail would prolly last you 2 years in your lawnmower and weedwhacker.

I don't think it was ethanol, I think it was the sitting unused for several years. It's like 15 years old, and all this stuff is original on it.

But yeah, replacing the fuel lines and returning to factory settings did the trick. Rocked and rolled after that.

Sitting for 15 years and you were surprised the lines were rotted? lol

I learned that one the hard way, I always shut the fuel off and run it out of the carb or open the drain before I let something sit. Even for a few months it will gum the carb up.

Yup!

Reminds me. I haven't started my chainsaw in years. I think it has gas in it too.

I bought a brand new John Deere lawn tractor in 2003. I think it was two years ago, maybe three I happen to look down and see gas dripping from the side of the tractor. Upon investigating, I find that the fuel line is all crackly and looks like its 100 years old. WTF? I blame ethanol.

So Baldy--glad to hear your whacker is whacking.

I guess the reason I didn't notice the bad lines was the line looked and felt fine at the carb, but it was cracked where it meets the tank.

I think if I had some beers or a daiquiri, I would have caught that much earlier on.
