Hey again

Ok basically I'm looking for someone in Maryland that is willing to take a 93 Rx-7 for a test drive and a once-over for me. I know this is basically like inviting people to go look at a car I'm interested in and potentially buy it instead of me getting it but i would hope that people would honor my intention of getting a fair and good review of a vehicle outside of my reach for a test drive and good looking over.

Basically the only thing I would ask for is that you meet this guy somewhere talk to him about the car and find out some information about me, I can provide all the questions unless you're experienced in FD buying https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png. Then, as long as he agrees, you take it for a test drive so you can report back to me on clutch condition, boosting pattern/feel, and such things as that. Of course if you can even bring a compression tester with you to test compression i might throw you a dollar https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png.

If anyone is interested in assisting me and not buying an FD please either reply here or PM me as the guy is moving all the way to washington quite soon....oh and if the guy selling it is on this board, this is what i mentioned in the e-mail about finding someone i can talk to who can give me a neutral point of view on the vehicle.

thanks guys,

let me know,

kevin.

oh and if anyone in NJ feels like driving me up there that would be very nice of them, i just dont think i'd make it to MD myself https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

thanks again,

kevin

djgiantrobot 01-09-2003 04:19 PM

where in md?

vosko 01-09-2003 04:20 PM

i drove to MD when i was looking for my FD 3 years. i drove through a freaking monsoon in my 89 GTU with my friend.... wow that SUCKED..... lol

djgiantrobot 01-09-2003 04:23 PM

yeah MD is nowhere to be spending your time. I'm moving to hawaii. I've been here 20 years and i still don't understand how it can to 110 in the summer and like 10 in the winter.

teknics 01-09-2003 04:28 PM

djgiantrobot, I'm guessing somewhere around baltimore because he mentions the only time he has driven it (has like 71,000 he bought it with 70,000) is from SC home (he bought it in SC) and then a few times to baltimore. I'll inquire more but if you're willing to help me that'd be great.

vosko: oh great i'm following in vosko's steps *wishes for mercy upon his transmissions*

lol, I know i can drive there but i was getting bored as hell just goin to burlington yesterday and that was while racing at 100+mph the whole way down, so you could imagine me sleeping on a trip to MD https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png, plus i got school and dont want to drive up on a weekend.

kevin.

djgiantrobot 01-09-2003 04:30 PM

ok, I live in baltimore, let me know

93 R1 01-09-2003 04:35 PM

I live between baltimore and frederick

teknics 01-09-2003 04:40 PM

thanks guys I'll try to set something up asap, as soon as i get him to agree I'll send you all a lis tof questions and a place and time he'd like to meet and whomever would like to can go look at it FOR me, note that i said FOR me none of the "go to look at car, tell tek it sucks, buy it myself" trickery https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Rob x-7 01-09-2003 04:40 PM

ah, so you sold that truck of yours?

j9fd3s 01-09-2003 04:47 PM

i have a rule, well more of a guidline, about buying cars more than 15 minutes away...

mike

UniqueTII 01-09-2003 04:49 PM

I drove 355 miles to test drive my TII, then back again to pick it up.

mike

i have that same rule buts its 45 mins

teknics 01-09-2003 06:02 PM

well since i am following vosko's footsteps I'll use his rule and just drive really fast to make it a 45 minute trip https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png I think his car is like 180 miles from my zipcode....soooo i'll just do about 230mph and make it about a 45 minute trip https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

wow thats like a nice 3-3.5 hour trip for me cause to burlington is ~90miles and doing 110-100 i made it in an hour, but coming back up doing 80-85 the majority of the time it was about 2 hours. So i guess to MD is about 3 hours....now if you measure from my other house in binghamton maybe it's 45 minutes away https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Rob: well it's not guaranteed to be sold, but i'm going to a shop tomorrow (if i scrounge up gas money and car wash money...about $40 or so in total) that told me "bring the title and proper ID, we'll look up the blue book value, call Paul at....." so it sounds like they are interested in it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png. Considering kbb.com says it's a 16,900 truck i hope to god they use that and only subtract like $1000 for the accident it was in https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png but i have a feeling im only going to be getting about 13,500 if that for the stupid truck.

kevin.

Rob x-7 01-09-2003 07:25 PM

ah, well they usually only deduct for lack of equipment, in other words if your truck is the bare basic model, and they deduct for mileage.

They do add for things like CD changer, leather, **** like that.

Usually people that buy cars wholesale use a different book, the NADA book in our area, my guess is if KBB was 16,900, maybe they will offer like $13,000 tops, hoepfully in your case im wrong but I used to deal with about 6 different wholesale dealers when I had my shop.

and not to flame at all, but if you have to try to round up $40 for gas and car wash money, a FD isnt the right car to be owning, lol

teknics 01-09-2003 08:17 PM

rob: only reason why i have to find $40 is because i wa sin a car accident 3 weeks ago which made me bleed internally etc etc. Sooo i've been out of work, and no money is coming in currently. I was living off $300 i made for selling some tires. gonna get another $300 soon as i sell a lift kit. And i begin work hopefully this monday so my money flow will be solved, although the job pays shitty, so i am also looking for a new one of those.

kevin.

Rob x-7 01-09-2003 08:26 PM

ouch, good luck with everything!

teknics 01-09-2003 09:07 PM

yup yup, and hell if i cant afford to drive the FD i'll buy one of those NJ Specials, ya know the $200 cars that appear on dealer lots haha https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

anywho time for more idlepimpage!

i drove 800 miles to test drive my T2...bought it...then 800 back home

but I still pale in comparison to Jio https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif

teknics 01-09-2003 09:25 PM

if i go up to MD to grab it chances are i'll go up in a big ram 1500 (5.9 v8, ROAR) with our like 10,000lb capable dual axle trailer, toss it on that, throw a car cover on top, and chug back down to my house. Me and my dad do such stuff often because he buys and repairs ford tractors from the 50's. if anyone knows anything about them so far he has rebuilt 2 8N's and a Jubilee, all that if there were shows around here would be award winning for the detail. It's a lot like rotary car rebuilding, hard to find competent people with the right parts, but there's the small yet solid group of guys who still get like original shift knobs for the things https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png.

Here's hoping i get 13,500 for my truck https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png. Also rob i think you're dead on because one shop i talked to offered me "around 13,000" and when i said 13,500 he was like "i dont think i'll be able to do that". Oh well maybe they're worth more in new york or something https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png.

real shame no dealers have used FDs anymore, at least then they would take your trade and with the money you save on sales tax with the trade it would be like getting an additional $1105 on a $13000 trade for a total of $14105. Only chance would be if you found maybe a salesman or owner who has one and is selling it thru the dealership.

vosko 01-10-2003 07:23 PM

there is one $15.5k fd at a dealer but its not really at the dealer.... lol

teknics 01-10-2003 07:34 PM

ohh good news i used nada to price my car with the options and mileage included and it said $14,925 was the normal trade-in price. Gonna try and get up to the place that was interested tomorrow, got money for gas but not for a car wash and the car looks white the way it is now lol.
