Would I do it again? No.

I need to learn how to weld, it looks like fun to be able to create useful stuff.

Be careful with that welder, Beaker! You could burn your nose off!

I never built a header before either. Of course I was using thicker pipes from Racing Beat, but just look at the (ugly) welds. My welds improved quite a bit after I got some new wire. I had already finished the header by then though. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

That's pretty good for being an amataur welder

I've seen much worse

Did you use this header yet? Don't lay too much hydro through the wire on that flange without pre-heating, I would be afraid of warping it..

Looks flimsy thanks to the "RB" lettering and box cutouts

Thanks. The flange is pretty thick. The RB and square cut-outs help shave a little weight. I did actually preheat it with a couple propane torches. It looks like a missed a spot on the rear pipe, but it's ok.

The flange was warped a little so I set it up on some jack stands and started beating on it with the blunt end of a splitting maul (didn't have a sledge handy). It seemed to work because the flange it a lot flatter than it was before. It didn't even leak on the engine when I test ran it. Of course it was also an open header so there was very little backpressure. I'll see how it does when the exhaust system is done.
