I was out looking at cars today, deciding on a graduation present thats coming up in a few months, and stopped by the hyundai stealership
the Gtv6 tibby is pretty nice looking imo, and the interior is nice, but I never got to test drive or anything. does anyone know much about them? the one I looked at was loaded, leather, power everything, 6 speed, and of course the v6. anyone? reliability? performance? |
power wise dont expect a whole lote. As far as looks and comfort i love them.
Not for the true sports entused though. |

I wouldn't do anything to void the 10 year warranty.
|
I owned one, and I can safely tell you they are AWESOME cars for the money.
They handle great for a FWD car... They have good torque, and they are great on gas. The only car I would take over my old GTV6 is my FD. For the price, you can't go wrong. You can get the Alpine supercharger and still keep your warranty... My friend has one with well over 400 whp (13 lbs of boost on the Alpine S/C, aquacooled, alcohol injection, cams, headers, exhaust, etc.) and it runs like it just came off the show room floor. The entire bottom end is built for racing. Hyundai finally made a good decision with the new Tiburons. Great car overall. You can't find another car for that price that offers what the GTV6 does. |
did your friend build the bottom end, or are you saying that it comes that way??
what are some 1/4 mile times STOCK? and how much is the alpine sc? |
My friend is running stock pistons, stock bottom end. The bottom end is race built from the factory.
The alpine supercharger is a roots blower. The aquacooled kit will set you back about 3g's. More boost is as easy as switching the pulleys available from my friend's shop. stock quarter mile times would be anywhere from a 14.9 - 15.4 pending the driver skill, location, etc. My friend Tim easily runs an 11 sec 1/4 mile. Here's a link to his shop for more information on aftermarket parts: Next Gen Motorsports |
could i order this through someone at wholesale
I have a retail and business liscense. |
oh, and
thanks for the info. its either this, a srt4, or a nissan (maxima altima pathfinder exterra) |
SRT-4 All the way. Fast as ****, the bottom end can hold about 900 poneys. And very easy to upgrade. All the stages can be bought through dodge and will not void the warrenty. Deff kills that tiberon. My buddy in his SRT with only about 200 in ods ran a 13.9 at the track. And now with a little under 1000 in mods hopes to be running a low 13 high 12.
|
hrm. what the warranty on them?
i like that 10 year 100k mile stuff on the tibby. I love the srt4 and can get one for cheap, so that is a strong option. |
You can't really get Tim's products for wholesale unless you vend them. The alpine aquacooled S/C kit isn't manufactured by him, so he can't give a discount on those. All the products on his site were machined by himself or to his specifications by a different machine shop. Thus, all items are original and produced by him so you don't really have the convenience of a major corporation having the ability to send you a bunch for wholesale. I'm sure if you called him, you could spark a deal. Unfortunately, unless you vend more than just the one or two products you want, I doubt he'll give them to you for wholesale because he's his own business owner, and he would be losing out on a deal like that. It's definitely worth calling him about though.
The SRT-4 is a good car. But I have yet to see an SRT-4 on the street that can even compare to the speed and handling of Tim's car. You see quick SRT-4's all over the place... But how many GTV6's do you see running Ferrari's? Exactly... I've only seen one. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif Btw, Hyundai corporation's racing development team, H.A.R.D, (Like TRD for Toyota) has had verified rumors of creating a turbo kit for the GTV6 that would not void warranty as well. |

And no matter how cool they make the car, it's hard to roll hard and get the bitches when you are driving a hyundai, it might perform well, it might go fast but no one's impressed when you roll by in a hyundai with the 16 inch blades https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png That's like trying to explain to the chicks at the party that it's (****) small because it's cold out and there's shrinkage.... they ain't buyin it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png |
Haha... I would think the ladies would like the Tiburon more than the SRT-4 though. Good point though... lol @ the Kia comment.
|
Looks good but I read in Sports Car Mag that its pretty crappy.

900hp in a dodge 2L engine...sounds like trouble

Most wholesale accounts require a buy in for autoparts, it's not a matter of having a business license, they want $5,000 up front so they know you are serious and not just trying to buy parts for your own car..... uhh, like what you were thinking of doing https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

ok ok I get the point. lol......
and yea phins, I know about the buy ins. I'm in the process of opening my own store localy to carry aftermarket parts. and for most of the companies the buy in isn't required, it just gets you better prices. and the nissans are looking much more appealing........ chicks LOVE maximas and altimas..... and pathfinders..... hrm. I think I see a pattern here. and did you know that nissan offers 20" spinning rims as an option on the altimas and maximas???!!?!? thats pretty cool. |

I'm not saying I like spinning rims!!!!!
I just thought it was kinda weird that you can get them as a foctory option now!! |
lol! They should have good taste as a factory option! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif
|
lol........... it was kinda funny though, the chrome was coming off of the little cap in the center, and the car hadn't even left the lot......
|
your serious? ****...
oh well, get jesse james to polish them bitches back up |
lol the cap was like... 1" wide. just enough to cover the bearing in the spinner. its plastic, and the fake chrome flaked. the guy said that they ordered new caps and that it had never happened before, but I'm not buyin it. at the car show yesterday they had a booth set up for a wheel shop here locally. they had at least 50 different styles of rims, from racing to 26" spinners, anything. the foose ones are the best.....
|
Tiburon > SRT-4
|
damn spinnaz are more than 2G's each...
|
yea. but as a factory option it was like 1000 bucks more than the exact same car with the 17" regular wheels

I talked with a few companies that are going to give me some pretty good prices. enough that I can make a decent profit.
|
go with the new scion tc. you can get one decked out and supercharged for $20000 max. that's 200 hp, reliable from toyota, with a warrenty.
trd also supports lots of factory, warrentied upgrades for the scion line, like cold air intake, exhaust, and other neat options. check out the tc at scion.com |

i wonder how many tranny's the average srt will go through |
The SRT-4 from tuner transformation was eating half shafts on a pretty regular basis apparently. He was autocrossing with us today.
Hyundia will be offering staged upgrade packages for the Tibby, up to 300 hp apparently. |
hmmm.. I figured the dodge would encounter that type of problem. thats a lot of power in a stock fwd car.
how do similar components hold up on the tibby? half shafts, etc.... I'm kinda also thinking of getting a truck/suv I like the pathfinder, the real pathfinder, not that ugly ass armada thingy. or a 4-runner. I went and looked at those new chevy colorados today. the interiors are crappy, that is a definite NO going to check out dodges soon. |
The SRT-4 I mentioned has a T3/T4. Not so stock. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
|
thats not much bigger than the stock one https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
tuner transformation = teh suck RICER TV!!! |
375 hp at the wheels.
They put a pretty distasteful wing on it, but there already was one. Supercharged Focus. Widebody 240 with SR20DET. 323 GTX rally car. They've done some cool cars. |
they have some cool cars, but they guys on the show are AGGERAVATING as hell.
if I hear the word dope on more time when not refering to drugs, im gonna go nuts. damn ricers. |
I haven't seen it for a while.
Are you refering to the guy with the ponytail? I'm pretty sure the others wouldn't talk like that unless threatened with death. At least in normal conversation, they'd never live it down. |
they do it on all of those type shows. i think its in the script.
