I just picked up the recent Road and Track which is good issue so go get it. It has the story on the original rotary car(the cosmo) and it has the first road test of the Rx8. It has a bunch of good rotary history info in it too....

...ok, now I know the general thought here is that many of us didn't like the Rx8...HOWEVER, after reading the RT article on it..I have changed my mind. It runs a 1/4mile in 14.5 and 0-60 in 6.0 flat...which is faster then many of our 2nd gens..the car is an NA..thats the coolest part. I give props to mazda and its team of engineers for building such a perfect rotary motor...I couldn't have done better myself! I for one am now an Rx8 enthusiast as well...maybe you should be too https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Another reason to like it is that if you don't, its unlikely that any other rotary powered cars will emerge. No RX-9, no rotary Miata, nothing. Buy those mofos like hotcakes, and Mazda will build more rotary powered cars.

hey...i just saw that magazine at safeway the other day...it was the one with the yellow rx8 right? ...i was skimming through the article and i was pretty impressed myself...the power it packs would satisfy many rotary enthusiasts...the only thing that bites me is the fact that it doesnt have that same aura that the older rex's have on me....

the body style of the rx8 is somewhat of a major change

i prefer the FC's and FD's body style...

power wise i'm happy...the look i'll have to adjust to

i have never been against it...change isnt always bad. to me it looks kinda like a Roadster-type car...not necessarily bad. Remember, that car is NOT RX-7. I truely think that if it goes well, we will see the FD come back with the renesis maybe even Turbo charged...or an update of the FD....one can hope.

like i said before...im lookin for a new car. i hope to find a T2 in good condition, but im also lookin at MR2 turbos and even SE-R's. they arent rotary, but wut the hell, i dont have a motorcycle either, and that is one thing i thought i couldnt live without...cant always have what u want...

Of course its a major change from the FC and FD...

Repeat after me... "ITS NOT AN RX-7!"

Okay, feel better? Good. Now go out there, and buy the RX-8 on its own merits. Spicy motor, great suspension, and FOUR full seats! Now all of you rotorheads with kiddies can have your hot car AND haul the brats. You'd think that more of you would be excited by that.

I like that mazda has done something good for the rotary, and I couldn't be happier about the numbers is produced. But the car is butt ass ugly to me.

i dont really like the changes from the RX-Evolv. I like that car a lot. The redesigned front is slowly growing on me, but it my opinion will never be as hot as the evolv.

If you like the RX evolve you are truly open minded, if you think the RX-8 is ugly you do'nt accept change very well.

The more RX-8's go out the door the more likely a new turbo rx-7 will become reality. I'm not opposed to having more room to go with the zoom. In '93 they could have put out a awd rx-3 based on the mx-3 body and the 323gtx awd hardware but instead they put out a 1.8 v-6 which was the closest thing to a rotary mazda could put in it to approximate a 12a motor. Mazda has future think engineers with conservative think management holding them back. I think the biggest mistake was offering the 3rd gen with the twin turbo hand grenade motor. The third gen should have had a 20b na and a single turbo 20b for the power crazy.

I don't agree with everything you said . Just because someone thinks the car is ugly doesn't necessarly mean they don't except change well. Of course some poeple are more close minded than others. I for one am always up for change, but still no one can convince me that that car looks good .

The 3rd gen in my opionon should of had a small single turbo eliminating all the twin turbo BS. A 20b would have been nice, but I imagine that the price tag would have been too. The 3rd gen is only a hand grenade motor if you let it be, you have to tune that sucker in right when you start modding. Just my 2cents https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
