For those of you with an ipod video...does anybody use an FM transmitter? How well does it work? What brand? I want to get one that connects to the ipod with and looks as if it's part of it, not one that has a cord that goes to the ipod. I was looking at the itrips.

I was kinda wondering about what brands people use and how well they work....apple will just tell you they work.

my buddy had an itrip for his mini and it wasn't that great, it didn't sound all that good plus it didnt have a cut in it for the holdd button so it sat ontop of it.

just my tidbit, I think the new ones sit on the bottom right?

I'm using my ipod video with old fashion car kits.

I tried an fm transmitter with my wife's nano, it sucked, then got the one that goes in the casette player (can't remember the name), it sucked, now have a different fm transmitter/charger (so it has a cord). It works really well. Made by Monster, similar to this one (ours doesn't have the digital display).

The FM transmitter is the worst way(sound quality wise) to get your iPod music to your car stereo. The best way is having a stereo that is equipped with an iPod connection, whether it be an USB port, minijack, or some stereos have iPod specific connection equipment. If buying a new stereo is not an option for you, the next best is the cassette adapter with the FM transmitter last. Well, since most of us don't have cassette players in our cars anymore we are stuck with the transmitter option.

Most new stereos actually have iPod interface adapters for this very thing. I know my Alpine does, but it's $100, and I'm just happy listening to XM when I'm driving. I haven't even listened to a CD much less the radio since I got XM.

I have a 3rd gen Ipod 40g, and have a dual RCA/CD changer input adapter cable. From there a miniplug to dual RCA. I put the Kenwood 569 on cd changer, turn on the ipod, and it works like it was made that way. the HARDEST part would be finding the adapter cable for your CD changer input. I had some non thinking installer telling me that the aux unit HAS TO BE the brand of the HU, and that is just plain BS. A signal is a signal. I offered for him to come out to my truck, and hear the Ipod playing through my car stereo, and he didn't have time. He still kept insisting that it doesn't work unless the unit giving sound is THE brand of the HU. I finally gave up and left. Some people just cannot think for themselves.,,,,BB

we use a dlo fm transmitter in the big rig, it works nice.. granted we dont have an audiophile sound system in that truck.. but its good and it charges the ipod.. another one of the ones we had didnt charge it.. it also has lil adapters for the cig lighter to give it lots of angles for positioning it.. that **** cost like $110 out here though..
