Thinking i'm changing majors...insights?
#1
OK, I think I'm gonna change my career plans here. I'm currently an architecture major. Well, I'm thinking more and more about computers, I mean they are the wave of the future and all. Information is power right. And who doesn't like more power.
I'm looking into what kind of track I'll need to follow to get into Information Systems Management. Do I need to go for my MBA and get an MIS degree? Which is the more important of the two? How many more years will I have to go? What is going to be the focus of my study? Anybody got any insights, let me know.
I'm smart and I wanna make some bucks doing something I like, help me out here.
Thanks
Mike

there are several guys here that changed over to an MIS degree its a lot of work but you wont be a programmer the rest of your life like you would if you got a comp sci degree. ive heard you have to do alot of group projects and stay up late nights doing work (or drinking) but they say its a pretty good degree.
as for myself i'm a mechanical engineering major. we learn all about mechanincal systems, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, pretty much we do a lot with all sorts of engineering.
but do what you want money isn't that important if you hate your work. do somthing you like and you wont mind not getting a 6 digit paycheck.

I am a ISM major and am graduating in 5 weeks!! It isn't that hard if you know about computers. They mostly teach you theory, it is up to your job/internship to give you the hands on. (At least at my school) I like the major and I changed majors three times (Engineering, then comp. Sci.) I will have my BA when I am done.
