When I put my premix in my FC at the gas station, I usually end up getting into a discussion with the pump attendant about who I need oil in my fuel, and that leads to me giving a small speech about the rotary engine. In Oregon you can't pump your own gas so it usually strikes the gas guy as odd that I ask him to wait a sec for me to put oil in the tank before he adds the fuel.

Today the scene at a local Chevron station was no different. Midway through my rotary engine explanation I popped my hood to advance my ignition timing a hair, and another gas attendant followed his curiosity over to the engine bay. Then his girlfriend showed up and I gave a really nice speech about the rotary engine and its differences from piston engines; a good time was had by all. Attendant # 1 asked me to direct him to any FC's for sale for the $1200 that I paid for mine when I first got it, he liked the car so much. He was amazed that I bought my base model for so little money.

There is hope. Most people do ont know what RX-7s are really like. Reach out, my rotary brothers and sisters, to the general public when they wonder about your seven. Spread the joy of the rotary engine and RX-7, and the legacy of one of the best sports cars ever made will continue as more people buy RX-8's thanks to us showing them the beauty of the Wankel. The attendants today did not know that FC's had rotary engines stock. They thought that they came with a V6 and didn't realize how awesome the car was.

Spread the truth, my friends, and the rotary family will keep growing.

without a diagram or rotor handy, how do you explain it to someone? I find it quite difficult.

You put your hand in a triangle formation and then you shimmy and shake...

Yeah exactly! LOL...

I tell them that the rotor rotates and orbits at the same time, and through the magic of the stationary gears and housing geometry, it forms three moving chambers of changing volume. That either fascinates them or confuses them, and if they get confused then it is not worth explaining further because they are not car enthusiasts . . . the difference between confusion and fascination is a willingness to figure out that which one can't understand, and it is easy to tell who is a consumer from a real car enthusiast after the rotary speech. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif
