alright so heres the idea i have, if u were a pizza delivery boy, could u go out and buy/get financed on a car and at the end of the year, write the car off or the payments off for that car, saying it was your work car? and could you write mileage off aswell? jus an idea lemme know what u guys think/know

I think you can only if you have another vehicle for when your not working.

My business pays all the expenses on 2 of my cars because I have others registered for personal use.

yeah what rob said. theres some detail, but i'm 99% sure it can be done

I believe that you can write off a portion of the expense of the car. You will need to keep a record of the mileage that is work-related and you can deduct that fraction as a work expense.

NOTE 1: This is not the same as a free car.

NOTE 2: I may be completely full of ****, so check your facts. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

I wrote off all the mileage last year for taxes. I did not get all of it back, it was about 60% I got back from the mileage, tires, balancing and rotations, oil changes.

Be careful however, if you get audited, you are screwed. But as long as you are not claiming more things than your annual salary, you won't be as bad.

I wrote off many things last year, computer for work, ties, slacks, shoes, coats, office supplies. I did all of that in 05 and doing it again for 06. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

mileage is one thing, payments is another story

if you have that vehicle SPECIFICLY for work, and have another vehicle for personal use then you can write off the work vehicle in full.

Let me clarify my post, a ton of errors.

KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS FOR EVERYTHING! Maintenance on the vehicle, tires, gas receipts. Even if you 5 bucks in the tank, get the receipt! If you get audited and don't show proof, well you are fucked.

I have not thought about writing off the payments yet. Maybe when I trade in the Wrangler at the end of summer, I will look into that some more. Or I might start doing it this year. I need too look more into that option.
