The January 2006 issue of Saltwater Sportsman magazine compiled a list of the five most treacherous inlets on the Atlantic Coast of the United States. Topping the list is the St. Lucie Inlet. Experienced captains who regularly deal with the St. Lucie agree that, on its best behavior, Stuart's passage to the sea is tricky. At its worst, it's downright deadly. The article — aptly titled "Swells From Hell" — warns boaters about potential hazards encountered while trying to travel to sea or back in rough conditions, relying chiefly on anecdotal evidence from those who use inlets the most. |

my 62 year old stepdad braves those waters every day to go fishing. He and phins are true soulmates.
Speaking of which, Scott, how have the waters been lately? I really miss being down there and having fresh (read: good) seafood every day... |

Speaking of which, Scott, how have the waters been lately? I really miss being down there and having fresh (read: good) seafood every day... Shitty the last week and a half or so, 6 to 9 foot waves for this weekend as well. With me being sick this is the longest my boat has sat since I bought it. |
Right on! I need to bring out the race jet ski and get some good wave shots!

pshhh... get this scott...
I've been waiting for over 3 weeks now to leave the grays harbor. With gale force winds for a week straight, to 29 days straight of heavy rain, flooding the hell out of the rivers, creating strong under currents. The bar is ebbing like a mother fucker and the winds have kicked up to gale force again. I've been trying to get out of this damn cove for 3 weeks! Im going insane! And looking at the national weather service reports, it doesnt look like its gonna let up for another week. :( Also, seas are around 15 foot every 8 seconds on the surface. In a 65 foot fiberglass boat, it aint that fun. |
on a brighter note though, we are at the same port with the westport shipyard. They have a few yachts that have just been built doing sea trials and docking next to us. Cheapest is 8 mill base price...
112 foot and a 135 foot... the 135 is around 15 million. Really makes you feel poor when you get on one of them. :( http://www.westportyachts.com/yachts/westport130-1.jpg http://www.westportyachts.com/yachts/westport112-1.jpg I'll try to get some pictures of me on them. I can totally fake baller it! |
