ok-ive been trying to get a bolt from my seat out of my fd...stripped the hell out of it and tried to get a big screw in there after piloting it to catch on the way out...however it doesn't. So basically, I've got a screw with a hole in it 3/4 of the way down and need some advice on how to get it out!

drunkin_idiot 05-17-2004 01:41 AM

get a pneumatic air hammer and break it off.

BigTurbo74 05-17-2004 02:55 AM

use a cutting disk and make slots for a big ass screwdriver to fit

Srce 05-17-2004 02:58 AM

Curse really hard at it, really.

djgiantrobot 05-17-2004 03:09 AM

JB weld a socket to it!

Fd3BOOST 05-17-2004 05:38 AM

Cut the head off it with a cutting wheel on an angle grinder then take your seat out. After the seat is out of the way take the reminder of the bolt out with vise grips. I like BigTurbo74's suggestion also.

ColinRX7 05-17-2004 07:26 AM

I'd cut it out and then repair it as necessary wether it be welding on a new nut to thread a bolt into, or what not.

We had this happen on our race car we were building. The "bolt" welded to the frame of the car came loose and was spinning. We didn't discover this until we got the seat out and had a closer look.

You will have to hack the head off of the bolt to get the seat out.

Sucks doesn't it???

I did a lot of cursing.

Heat it up and blow it out.

I've done the JB Weld thing, sucks to loose a socket

I also have a set of Bluepoint extractors that work really really well.

haha I once made a recommendation involving heat and carpet...lets just say a last minute "wait a minute..." prevented a lot of heartache.
