ok ive been working at my previous job for the holidays to fill my time left empty by school and this guy came in. the guy is prob in his 60s or 70s and is an afro american (black). anyways the guy could seriously not read or write. i had to fill out his shipping form for him and then i had to fill out his check. the guy was dressed pretty nicely and was driving a new altima or maxima. whats up with that?





p.s. have you guys ever come in contact with someone over the age of 7 that could not read or write?

Maybe he just couldn't see well? Which would make me nervous about the car...

no he told me that he couldnt read or write. its a different story when people come in and theyre like could you fill this out, i dont have my glasses. at that point i think, and you DROVE up here?

Oh, wow, he told you.... and here I am thinking you have to be able to read and write to function in life, or at least support yourself. And I am always surprised how many people leave the house without their glasses, id, and money.

you should have written the check to yourself.... im sure you were tempted

i did leave it blank and the thought did cross my mind while i was having him sign it, not that i was thinking of actually doing it, but i did think it sure woulda been easy to put a larger amount on there and make it to me.

You should of wrote some racial comments on a piece of paper and handed to him.

yeah it would be a little hard to pass a license test without reading. i really think he was serious though, a lot of people are lazy and dont wanna fill out the form, but not filling out the check, thats a little much

i've met people like that, id say most of the were veitnamese, fresh off the boat

well yeah, i see tejanos all the time that dont know english, i mean people who can speak full english and not read it or write it.

never but strangely all the people who ask for a spanish speaker on the phone, speak good enough english that they dont need it

i dont know if its like this in other places but here we have so many illegal mexicans its not even funny. they live in the woods and stuff and then early in the morning they all converge at one central spot and contractors and other manual labor employers will drive up in their trucks and stick their hand out the window and indicate with fingers how many mexicans they need. then mexicans swarm the truck and the driver picks who he wants and they hop in the back.

there's a corner about 10 mile's from my house where the same damn thing happen's, you'll drive by and there's like 20 of em standin there all day waitin for someone to come by and give em some work

being that he was around 60-70 years old... that meant he shoulda been in school around the 1940'-50's.... Blacks weren't the most welcome people in alot of places during the 40-50's ..including schools, especially since you're in Texas. Probably worked small jobs, that required no real education until it got to the point where it'd be hard to start over..... Hell, quite a bit of the white population was very uneducated during the 50's.

Write a contract of indentured servitude.

haha i always get the urge to stop by that little corrner and wave 5 fingers and have all five of them coem to my fb and realize that theres only one other seat, then make them fight to the death, last one standing gets to cut my yard i guess

they would just stuff them selves in the hatch!

all the mexicanos here hang out at home depot and the contractors pick em up, give 'em 20 bucks, and they work 10 hours.
