go bigger... trust me!!!!!!!

Maxt 12-29-2010 10:59 PM

Me too.. How high are you going?

I chose the post construction as well. I went as big as I legally could, 30x42 with a 20' wall..I am going to do an L shaped mezzanine to increase the usable floor space.

How are securing your posts in the ground? The post company here used crushed rock instead of concrete, apparently it allows the holes to drain and doubles the life of the posts.

banzaitoyota 12-30-2010 05:28 AM

24 x 36 for now, walls are 12 foot tall. We are also using crushed rock to secure the posts. I also have 16' overhangs to go along each side

Nice! You going to install a lift?

After I scrape up the 5K for Concrete

Maxt 12-30-2010 09:55 AM

That's a good price for concrete, I am looking at a pretty heavy tab for mine. Best I have found is 8.50/sqft. Then if I don't sell my dyno

another 6-8k for the pit install.

I have to install the heat to get concrete done, going with infrared tube heat. Its going to suck to install. Current temp is minus 20C.

thatpoorguy 12-30-2010 12:38 PM

We use an oil burning furnace where I work, but we also change a ton of oil and burn the used.

banzaitoyota 12-30-2010 04:37 PM

I sold my Stuska to get this far.

Maxt 12-30-2010 06:46 PM

Which Stuska did you have?.. I like my dynojet, as repeatable as all hell, but its just such a huge machine to keep in my own garage. I am thinking about buying a dynapak or land and sea hub dyno as a replacement, they take up such little room.

I do some service work in a shop that has an oil heater, they are a medium sized trucking transport company, and they still run shy of oil to make the winter.. You would have to accept donations from people to make that work in this climate anyway.. I think the infrared is a good choice for high ceiling, I will have a small unit heater for fast recovery after opening doors up etc.

I would like to do the overhang carport thing to, but they consider it part of the building so I couldn't swing it.

They did the building in about 3 days once they got the concrete cut out of the old pad to sink the posts.

Maxt 12-30-2010 06:52 PM

angle view. The bad part is how high it ended up above grade, I have to pour a 7.5" apron now that originally only planned to be 4".

banzaitoyota 01-01-2011 07:29 PM

OCD is kicking in bad........ Putting bedliner on the posts so the bugs done chew em up !

Lmao OCD brings some great ideas. ADHD just made me a pain in the ass for my teachers lol

banzaitoyota 01-02-2011 07:20 PM

You know all those people who need to use "your" shop when "their" car need to be worked on? I couldnt find any of them around this weekend; so I put poles in the hole by myself!/

Step One:

Walk the six x six x 16' post upright against the tractor bucket:

Then attach chains to eye bolts, lift and lower into hole:

Then you measure again and break out the backout to make the mislocated hole larger for the next post:

Is good to have many pieces of heavy machinery at you disposal! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

GreyGT-C 01-02-2011 10:18 PM

Hmm... i seem to know those same people. Let me know if you need help with any more of it Banzai.. if remember correctly, you're only about 2 hours from here.

Maxt 01-03-2011 03:58 PM

The people that show when work needs to be done are your friends, the rest are just acquaintances... Lookin good though, also like the real posts.. Mine were laminated together out of 2x10's, probably due to height, lets hope the glue holds.

The bed liner is an interesting treatment, never thought about using it as preservative.

I like that backhoe attachment on the kubota..

banzaitoyota 02-11-2011 05:22 PM

STUMPS SUCK!!!! But I won this battle! finally

Maxt 02-11-2011 06:00 PM

Got walls and stuff now?

More pics?

Stumps are F#%@ing brutal to pull..

The company that built mine is out here right now fixing deficiencies, like crooked cladding and all 4 walls are at different heights, at least they came back to fix it I guess..

banzaitoyota 02-11-2011 06:21 PM

Still putting poles in the ground, no walls yet. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif
