OK, so i've been playing around with Vista for a day or better, first off i thought the sidebar would annoy the **** out of me, i fuggin love it, you braely notice it there except when you need it for something.

Speed, NOTICEABLY FASTER, no **** it loads the same programs faster then XP.

Look and Feel, quite nice, the first screenie is the desktop selector, pretty nifty.

Only complaints thus far: 1-the 64bit version doesn't ship in the box as i had expected, you have to log on and order a 64bit disk, small shipping fee applies as far as i can tell you cannot actually order a 64bit edition, which seems odd as it's one of the big advanatages. The other, Vista has been bragging up it's new backup software, sans the fact that it only comes on the business and ultimate version, had i known i would have ordeed ultimate, it was only likes $20 more (to me i bought them through the MS store from an employee friend). Now i do like my Casper Xp program and they intend to have a vista update out soon, but wut the hell?

All of my programs have worked thus far, i have not run accross any issues.

Have to admit, i've been running it for the last 3 months or so on my main box, and I'm so used to it now that going back to XP at home is a bit of a shock.

My Mac looked and performed like that YEARS ago.

Way to keep up Microsoft.

well i am certainly not going to defend M$, anyone who's been here a while knows that. However, Vista is a step in the right direction for the windows OS and no matter how hard we argue, Pc's are cheap, available and maybe with Vista even a bit more usable.

You're right. I had to stir the pot a little.

I have never owned a PC, but have had plenty of time on them (who hasn't).

Sad thing, as much as I love my Mac(s), I have to buy a PC laptop to tune when I get a Megasquirt since the OSX software for it is somewhat 'unstable'.

The Vista screens look good though. Much better than previous stuff. Things can only get better from here, right?

i think the current windoze/mac/*nix battle will benefit the consumer... end user in a big way. Something that doesn't happen often. Do forsee windows replacing *nix on the server side, no. Do i see the mac die hards switching to win, no. I do see all of the above adding features, software, security, speed....etc. It's no different then IE vs Firefox vs Opera.

PS I can't stand IE or Firefox.................. which leaves me with a great alternative https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif
