Is there going to be an actual fuel shortage or just another incredible increase in prices? Or will nothing happen?
I know it's playing hell with stocks, especially energy stocks, not to mention the impact on heating oil, i should have bought heating oil futures. |
Short answer: Yes, there will be a physical impact. Long answer: Gasoline prices are still making record profits from the last retarded hike, and I don't know how much of an increase we'll see again. Natural gas prices, however, will be approximately 50% higher this year than last.. So for those in gas-heated areas (most of the midwest and west), buy yourselves some space heaters and tape up your windows. Since electric rates are more stable than gas rates, and most utilities run coal and nuclear baseload units, chances are that electricity will be a little cheaper than gas.. I plan on getting a nice space heater to supplement my forced gas heat this winter.

Also, a lot of those new ones are combined cycle, in that they can run diesel or LNG, and sometimes bio-diesel.

Actually I beg to differ.
I know someone who trades energy and he told me completely different. |
