Ok, I just got conntacted by an older gentleman about an FD he has for sale. Now it's awsome and all but I have to wonder if it's bull because it sounds toooooooo good to be true.

1995 Silver Touring

Black Leather

10000 MILES (This is what worries me) ONLY 10K

ALL STOCK (Everything)

5 Speed

All documents and Papers plus the original window sticker

He is the first and only owner.

He says he has the R2 spoilers and a set of KYB's that are gonna go with the car. I've seen it and drove it (my first drive in an FD: amazing), the car is not LIKE new, IT"S BRAND NEW, Still has the smell.

Problem: I heard there were no Silver 95's in this condition and package and I find it heard to believe that he is selling it for the price he is selling it for. He says he wants 35-40K. I think that's more then worth it since this thing is BRAND SPANKING NEW (really it is). He has a huge crib in the Hills and a 512TR in the garage. I think I saw a Harley under a cover too.

I've seen the carfax and it says it has no problems what so ever but it does not report anything about odo rollback and such.

So, what do you guys think. Give me some feedback because I really wish this was the real deal.

Fd3BOOST 10-13-2002 04:04 PM

Thats awfully high Kate. A car like that should only sell for $30 AT THE MOST!

Sounds like a real nice car though. If you can flash him $30 I bet he would take it.

Fd3BOOST 10-13-2002 04:06 PM

That car only sold for $38 or so when it was brand new off the lot. That price tag is extremely high.

vosko 10-13-2002 04:26 PM

the price is extremely high. i'd pass.. you can get one with 20k miles for 15-20k. they did make silver 95 tourings...

I know a guy who bought a silver 95 with 20K miles for $25K, mint condition. That old guy is trying to be an old ripoff artist.

sullycrx 10-13-2002 10:10 PM

too much money. you could buy an rx-7 for 15 and drop 15k in mods and have a badass car. screw the miles on it your gonna have to replace the motor and turbos anyway. i would pass, **** for that much money i would buy an nsx but thats just me. later scott

amp 10-13-2002 10:25 PM

dont get lost in the low mileage thinking...

i myself would spend the extra dough on rarity rather than mileage...

droppin in a brand new instrument cluster will register 0 miles by the way....

7Sweety 10-13-2002 10:34 PM

Thanks guys, I'm gonna call him and say that a few friends think it's too high. So, should I try for 25-30K

christi 10-13-2002 10:37 PM

Ask to see if he'll drop it to 30k.

JT-Imports 10-13-2002 10:48 PM

You can buy a brand new Spirit R for almost that much. Although I know they are pricey in the states. If you guy has cash, check to see if it has been rolled back(my experience). Was it garage kept?

show up with 30 offer him 25. it cant hurt.

the worst that could happen is that youll haggle your way up to 30. If you havent already, show him that youve done your research on the car and that 10K miles on the odometer dont mean jack. it could have overheated, or something, and show no signs of a bad engine now and in 6 months to a year is in need of a new engine. And like everyone said, its better to spend 10 to 15 on a car with a so so engine, and spend the extra 15k or so in mods and new engine.

but, what do i know i dont own an FD. im still to cheap to lay down money on one.

I'd love a Spirit R, but I was thinking about an R34 GTR and ruled that out cuz of the fact that I can't well...shift with my left hand. Sue me. Yes it was gargae kept, he's got a 512TR for God's sake.

blaze08 10-14-2002 12:58 AM

I would pass on it! unless you can get it for $25k or less. But i still think it's too much. I think that old man just bought "The fast and the furious" DVD recently! search for other FD's, you should never buy the first car you land on ,you have to try different one's when it comes to rx7's.

RXheaven13b 10-14-2002 02:25 AM

It's stolen, don't trust the guy, he's lying to you!! I'm the most paranoide fucker in this joint i've seen stuff like this in the past!! Yeah that jeep was free and clear my ass!! Run and don't turn back, turst me!!!!

PistonKilla 10-14-2002 05:47 AM

I like old people. Too many of them are mean though. They are all "Welcome to, my pharmacy, drugsandpills as far as you can see!" lalalalala

banzaitoyota 10-14-2002 07:22 AM

Insist on a real compression test and boost pattern check, maybe even a dyno run. 28K tops

Rob x-7 10-14-2002 08:49 AM

If the guy really has a nice big house, and a Ferrari in his garage, whats not to believe about the mileage? A customer of mine has a FACTORY slant nose Porsche in his garage with about 20,000 miles on it, he still has the window sticker for it, cost $99,000 back in 1987 if I remember the year right. Some people only drive thier cars on a recreation/weekend basis. The price is high, so get him down, its WELL worth spending a extra $5000-$8000 or so over one of these 2nd engine-about-to-blow anyhow cars out there with 100,000+ on them. And as for the mileage, digital odometers are VERY easy to get taken care of, if someone REALLY wanted to they could even buy whats needed to do it right over the internet, no need for a new cluster. Some cars the mileage registers in the ECU or the ABS computer as well, but the programs to fix the clusters also fix the ECU's, ABS computers. Digital clusters are 'repaired' for anywhere from $350-$700 or so.

if you were cross-shopping an r34 then why should 35k phase you in the least? i'm broke, so both are out

of my leauge anyways. almost anyone can take the vosko route though. (car loan for 11k fd and visa will

suppy the other 15-20k you need for mods)

if you don't mind my asking how do earn a living? (maybe i'll quit my job and work yours)...

so jealous... even with all my rotary hating i would still love to own an fd... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

Ask him if when you buy the car there will be a fine girl licking your balls while he sucks your PP then mabe you'll give him that much for the car. It sounds too good to be true and too much money for the car. I don't think he'll be selling the car any time soon (to a knowledgeable rotary person) so he might drop the price. :POON:
