OK so we're selling Amy's car, i ran a car fax on it and of course it mentions an accident. No detail doesn't tell you that it was minor, etc, etc... I'm sitting here wondering if in this day and age should you even accept a repaired car from you insurance company? Unless you trade the car in to a dealer you've done serious damage to your resale value even being involved in the slightest of fender benders. Here I am trying to sell the car and i show them the car fax with only one blip... an accident reported, now they have to take my word that it was nothing major, repaired properly, etc. etc. and there is no denying this has seriously hurt my resale value.



Honestly I wonder if you wouldn't have some footing to stand on if you argued that the car was now more difficult to sell and worth less than what it was before for either additional compensation or a totalling of the car and check from the insurance companies.

provide a copy of the estimate or invoice for repair, disclose the damage and you will be fine.



If im buying a used car and its clean and someone said "I had the bumper and fender sprayed" and it looked good it would not bother me.



Now if I was buying something that I was going to stick in the garage and showcase, then I would want a clean car.



Some people will not even bother with the carfax, dont sweat it

i buy cars from http://www.nsaa.co.uk/ fix them and sell them as damaged repaired with a photo log of the repair people dont seem to mind if they can see the work caried out and are saving upto £1000

thats just the thing, he does not want the new owner saving £1000

Yea I've already had a cash buyer shy away because it had an accident on the carfax, now me personally as long as it had been repaired properly and trust me the car was repaired properly, he replaced everything with new parts and resprayed the entire side of the car jams and all. Unfortunately i'm the seller not the buyer so it makes no diff to me, but I cant help but wonder if I should have pushed another 10 - 15% out of the insurance co to reimburse me for the loss to my resale. i guess we'll see hopefully it was just that buyer.

iv only had one accident when i was rear ended and i had the body shop claim for alot more than they were going to charge me but i think its different in the uk. my car was lightly damaged from the rear and the guys insurance wanted a quote to fix it. If the car had been any worse the insurers would have took it away and inspected it themselves if they wanted to send it to an approved body shop and fix it there would be no record of the accident, but if the claim to fix the car back to one hundred percent pre accident condition using all original pannels cost more than the car is worth or close to it the insurers buy the car for market value and then sell it at auction as a registered damaged repairable car.



If i was to get a carfax report on your car would it tell me the details of the accident or only tell me it had been in an accident

ive been wondering that too. because of the car fax (which isn't 100% correct, but that is another topic) they cannot actually fix the car to the same state as preaccident

maybe you have class action law suit material



carfax just says "accident reported" or some crap, it does not say what right?



its like how many salvage title RX7s are out there? All it takes is for a car to have its seats, rims, and tailights stolen and the car could

be considered a total loss.

Exactly Rob it just says "accident reported Stuart, FL" on this one and gives the date, it's from the police report.

not to sound like im trying to imply you should not disclose things, but a buyer will come along who wont bother with the carfax or who will like the car anyhow and buy it.



How has the action been on the car anyhow?
