recently got a 7. plan on doing a lot of work myself, slowly teaching myself. wanted to kno if there was a particular tool set you guys recommend.



like, have you gotten set that has basically all the tools you need for a seven? also, i vaguely recall mention of a set of tools designed specifically for the rx7s.

A torch, a hammer, goggles, a shop manual, a broom for the rust...

Add to that a set of metric flare wrenchs.

13/16" spark plug socket. Short handled (4") 3/8" drive ratchet



Screw driver set (of course)



Low clearance jack and jackstands



Oil drain pan. One of those rubber strap type wrenches for the oil filter.



fancy little doo-wacky for turning rear brake pistons back in.

Spark plug cleaner that runs off of compressed air.

Offset box end wrenches can be useful.



52mm socket (or 2-1/8", same thing) for the flywheel nut.



Breaker bars, 3/8" and 1/2".



Impact wrench would be very useful, my next major tool purchase.



Torque wrenches, of course. You use them all the time once you have them.



Deep sockets - 10, 12, 14mm.



Nut driver/speed handle.



Channel lock.



Digital multimeter, wire stripper/crimper, side cutters.



Pencil torch for soldering.



Maglite. Yes this is a tool and one of the more important ones at that. It is a truism that if anything goes wrong on a car, it will always be in a dark corner.



Die grinder and bits if you want to do your own porting.

Oh yeah don't forget a variety of extensions. Also drive adapters, 3/8"-1/2" and 1/2"-3/8". U-joints or a set of flex sockets. Timing light. Wirebrushes. Utility knife. 1/4" drive socket set, ratchet, and nut driver handle.
