Well I own both a 1st gen and 2nd gen. Heres my opinion: My stock 2nd gen SE is far better then a first gen when it comes to ride quality, driver comfort, great long distance mpg when driven sensibly. My 1st gen with stiff springs and 205 width wheels and strut tower brace makes it corner better then any other car I could afford. Very responsive to turns. However ride quality is poor, rough, and unforgiving, but I feel more confident in its ability to perform. Major problem is the lack of power from idle to 4k because of porting and the 14mpg the way I drive. My favored car would be the 1st gen if it were new, but since its not, I'd opt for a 3rd gen any day for its factory power and superior cornering and handling.

well put my vote in for 3rd gen!
Give me a yellow 93-95 Twin Turbo RX7 5 spd Yellow with black leather interior! Oh and an updated front clip! |

I thought that the R1 came with suede leather seats.

Nope, leather was unavailable in R1 and R2 models. Cloth seats were used instead, grips you better in turns. On my Touring model, the leather slip is quite noticable if you're not prepared for it, according to my passengers. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

the seats are suede not cloth. cloth seats came in the base model. my car is a base with optioned in cruise and leather https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png a few of my friends have r1's or put r1 seats in they are very different looking.

3rd gen is the way I wish to go...
Well I like black cloth but my 89 2.3 already has black cloth and my 89 GT is getting black cloth. I will want some black leather in the RX7... |
