It's not an F1 car it's Formula Mazda ... They are all stock and race only against other Formula Mazda cars ...

EDIT: I meant the engine is stock lol ...

I don't think it's even possible (assuming you didn't care that you would get your ass handed to you in the HP department) to race a rotary in F1. Don't they have to be a V10? Anyone out there know the engine rules for F1?

Rotary Engines in general are BANNED from Formula 1, due to the fact that they can't get a correct measurement on the displacement.

I know this year Jaguar's running a Cosworth V10 but last year they were running a V8.

Right now its a 3 litre V-10. Possible rule change to drop it to V-8 in a couple of years but that rule change is getting some complaints from BMW.

F-1 cars are in the 900 HP range right now. F-1 wants to drop the HP ratings down to the 700 range and slow the cars down somewhat. There are concers on 2 fronts. One is cost reduction its getting too expensive to campaign a car. The other is safety its just a matter of time before there is another fatality and F-1 doesnt want to get blamed for not addressing safety concerns.

Right, the FIA is very strict about its regulations. EVERY owner HAS to run the same engine type.

thats a good way to get a boot in your ass. I bet 99 percent of the people on this forum do most of the work on their car, and about 50 percent do all of it.

do a little reading for once. no need for you to be a smartass.

oh and just so you know, I've probably worked on more cars than you've ridden in, so don't bother trying anything. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Digisan 06-15-2004 04:06 PM

Until two years ago, maybe three, there was a 3 liter displacement reg that did not state how many cylinders were to be used. At that time everyone was using a V-10, but Toyota was developing a V-12, they changed it to a mandatory V-10 reg because the FIA was scared that Ferrari was going to get their ass whooped.
