For those of you non-gamers, you can go back to browsing relevant information to whatever it is that trips your trigger.

If you are looking for a new racing game that is simple and extremely fun, this is it.

Although relatively simple compared to other recent titles like Need for Speed: ProStreet, what this game lacks in customization it more than makes up for in graphics and overal fun/play value. With everything from Demo Derby bashing to Drift Battles to Vintage Road Racing to Euro Touring Cars to Open Wheel Formula 3 racing, there is something for everyone, no matter what kind of racing you like.

Single player, you start off with basically nothing- a wrecked 1970 Boss 302 Mustang and no money to fix it. So you start off doing driver appearances for other teams, racing their cars to victory earns you the money to fix the Mustang. Then you get to do vintage racing until you earn enough to buy more cars and race in more classes. You are allowed to set up a paint scheme and numbering for your cars... however that is as far as the customization goes, which is somewhat disappointing. No custom bodywork, no engine tweaking, no suspension work... nothing. But that does not make the game less fun, surprisingly. It makes you actually have to DRIVE the car well... not just crash into your opponents and get them out of the way. Oh, and if you do choose the latter, you will be sorry. But I will get to that.

The physics are definately more arcade than simulation, but they make the game fun. The cars slide nicely around pretty much any corner, then catch grip with a litttle correction to fly down the straights.

But where the game truly shines is the crashes. Slam the tire wall and tires roll across the track, and your car gets damage to the area affected by the accident. Not just physical damage, but actual damage. Damage your steering and the car will be hard to turn. Damage your rims or suspension and the car will pull to one side. Damage your radiator and your engine will actually take damage progressively as the coolant drains and the engine overheats. Paint scuffs, glass shatters, fenders dent, panels even get ripped clean off as you crash. Debris STAYS ON THE TRACK until the end of the race. Hitting debris will affect your car just as in real life. You can even high-center your car on it and get stuck! Hit something hard enough (or enough things not-as-hard) and you'll total your car... which brings us to another unique feature.

In single player, if you wreck your car, you can watch a replay. Like most games. But this one has a unique feature. "Flashbacks". Go back to before you messed up, and you can take back over. Brake sooner. Turn in earlier. Avoid the debris on the track. Whatever it takes to NOT mess up this time around.

Multiplayer online is EXCELLENT. Everyone gets to vote on what to race next, and it seems most people actually try to race online, not just bash. Same rules for damage still apply, and you can use your custom paintjob online, as well as ANY CAR, wether you own it or not.

I give this game an A... which is hard to get... Download the Demo and try it, you won't be disappointed!

The only bad / disapponting thing about the game is the lack of car customization, and the limited number of cars. But when you consider the types of racing (touring cars, formula 3, etc) really there's not much customization needed.

It has the baby blue re-amemiya drift FD...which is cool as hell. Fun game but I get a headache playing it so I really cant play it for long.

I personally find I drift really well with the Silvia, or the Charger. The FD seemed touchy.
