windows xp

i am having trouble printing a screen capture from a dvd.

basically i watch the dvd on my pc, pause, printscreen (or ctrl-printscreen, or alt-ctrl-printscreen), then go to paint, (or notepad, or even word,) and paste the capture. I click on print and in the print preview I see the capture. but when i click print it just prints a black screen with only the "Pause" in one corner (the pause is from my dvd watching screen).

i also notice that i cannot save the screen capture in any application, it comes up blank/black unless the dvd is still in paused at the correct frame...almost like pasting the image is pasting a link and not a frozen image.

any help is appreciated 'cause i give up

That's because WMP and all of the nice programs render that picture, you can't take a picture of a real time rendered object UNLESS you use a program like FRAPS.

on a cool side note if you take a screen cap and paste it into paint the movie will play in paint...

Use Media Player Classic, it has a screencap system built right in. Go to options - keys to set a keystroke that will autosave it to make it easier.

It's what I use to get the screenshots to make gifs with, like this one. Works like a champ.
