Looking to buy a scroll saw and wanted to know the quality difference between Craftsman, Riobi, Delta, and Black and decker?? All around the same price.

banzaitoyota 03-12-2005 07:20 PM

What are you planning to cut with it?

phinsup 03-12-2005 07:22 PM

well craftsman and black decker come from the same place...

I've got a bunch of the ryobi's they aren't bad, if you are going to be using them to make a living you might want to look at porter cable, milwaki, etc...

best stuff is bosch. You can't get better than Bosch. With that said they cost mucho dollars. I prefer Mikita myself. But all my tools are no name worse than black and decker tools. I improvise a lot.

I plan on mostly cutting wood. I am an architecture major in college and it would come in handy on alot of my projects.

UniqueTII 03-12-2005 09:31 PM

What about a Dremel? I cut pretty much everything with mine.

Home Depot's Ridgid brand are great tools, we have been using them with no problems, its getting harder justifying paying 50% more for other brands.

rfreeman27 03-13-2005 11:15 AM

My dad just bought a bosche jig saw and the thing runs great.

I usually use dewalt tools, but im not paying for them so...

No one really mentioned craftman but I just bought a bench top scoll saw for $80 on sale, normally $120. $40 bucks off sounded good to me. Sorry I ddin't make it to harbor freight yet.
