I just went to reply to a post on the other forum, and it took 2 min. for it to get to the point of allowing me to type in my post. This was a 5pm Monday.

Does he really run it off a cable modem?

He said it was a T1 line, no wonder it's slow.

T1 lines are so '90's'

He should be in a co-lo by now, forget hosting your own line with todays multimedia posts. A T1 will only do about 100K , the speed of ONE cable modem download.

No wonder that other forum is a dog as far as speed!

There is nothing, to me, worse than a slow web site. You have to limit the size of graphics and other multi-media stuff you use. Some web sites think they are kool with lots of graphics and sound. I want infomation, not fancy pics and sounds. That's why I wanted an index into members rides. Not just load them all everytime you click it. Bandwidth is not free. On the other forum I checked options that didn't load all that stuff everytime I clicked on something. If I want to look at it I'll click it and take the time to load it. We must conserve our resources and always have fast response time. That is the key to a popular site. No one likes waiting for information.

Les the server is co lo, and it runs off its own T1 line, thats how much bandwidth that site uses.

We are purchasing a server with alot more power which is the main problem. Should have it up in the next few weeks.
